I have very, very fond memories in the corners of my mind of an old classic ZX Spectrum game.

I couldn't recall the name though, for years now I've been hoping to play it again.

I used to get the loading splash screen mixed up in my head with the Jetpac game.

Just found it :)

PROJECT FUTURE

This game was classic, used to spend ages trying to complete this when I was young.

Is this game a fav with any of you too?

Looooong time no play. Decades.

So glad I have this one identified now.

Feel free to share other classic forgotten gems stumbled upon or games considered slept on and highly underrated. :)

I'm still after a game I played when I was around 6 (I'm 29 now) on the Atari800XL

It had ladders and 2 headed crocodiles and a princess... and it wasn't Pitfall - it's probably some public domain/shareware game but in any case I remember enjoying it. I'd love to track it down...

Renember you the C64 classical
Wizard of War?
A Remake from this would be cool and a Network Play Function too :)

Wizard of Wor! Important 'o' there.

When it comes to Speccy games, one of the few that I regularly play is "Xeno". Futuristic semi-turnbased football-cum-billiards on a diamond-shaped field. Very simple, but one of those games where all the bits fit together perfectly. When I one day finally "get my thumb out" as the swedish expression goes, and actually starts coding properly myself, I'll start off with a remake of Xeno.

Abbex Software's 'Krakatoa', from early '84

It had that beguiling bedroom coder aesthetic and vibe to it that began to disappear as 84 rolled on and got software got a lot more polished (well, much of it anyway!). I remember the explosions were a source of much fascination, the first Defender-like BA-DOOOM with lots of particles flying off. Limited entertainment value, but it has a real attraction.

Youtube vid coincidentally has William Orbit Music on it, to which I am also partial ;)

A few arcade underdogs:

Osman is an unofficial sequel to Strider. It's far less known though it's at least as good. It gets very hard at some point, though.

Elevator Action Returns isn't very well-known either, but it's a fine side-scrolling shooter.

The Outfoxies is an extremely fun 2D arena shooter. You have to kill your opponents with all kind of weapons (from fists to a pie to a sword to a rocket launcher and many things in between) that you find lying around. The levels are very dynamic, with things like a building that's getting blown up, a flying plane, etc.

I probably know of a few PC forgotten gems as well, but I've forgotten about them... ;)

dfgjsdnfeignajkef....!?!!?!?!

As in Strider, my favourite game?

Why I not know this?

Can see it is by same team eh, just looked a few seconds YT gameplay of it.

I have to get this now.

Nice one! :)

Osman is a very nice game, as I suspected soon as I see the screenshots.

Been playing it a bit past couple nights, it has a lot of similarities with Strider, the levels and climbs just altered slightly ... car instead of helicopter for example :) Is harder, which is fine as Strider is a bit of a breeze for a while now.

GridRunner is nice looking game too, like those neon lines.

I will buy them a pint each on payday next week.

I thought those pics on that page were dif profile shots of one man... then noticed it is Yak and Giles :)

GoatUp2 looks nice as well.

...Loving their work spaces too

Digging this thread up, as I've just been having a little go on Chicken Shift.

A decent little puzzler game
