Is it possible? The source is public, but would the gp2x be able to handle it? Because seriously if this game was on the gp2x I would never put the damn thing down. :p

There is a linux port of the game located here.

If it's not possible to run on the gp2x, would it be possible on the xgp?

Edit: Here are the system requirements, according to gamespot:

Minimum:
System: Pentium-200 or equivalent
RAM: 32 MB
Video Memory: 8 MB
Hard Drive Space: 400 MB

Recommended:
System: PII 266 or equivalent
RAM: 64 MB

I don`t think it will run. Too much stuff that an arm920 just can`t do at the same time...

You'd have to hack the graphics down to a dos level of quality. And even then tsome of the larger battles would chug. Also, FS2 used many MANY more buttons than the gp2x has on it.

I´ve found this download site for old Freespace 2 game:
link
$4 for the download service though. Whenever the url has free in it, its probably not really free.

And most likely illegal. :p I'd remove that link.

Thought I'd mention, that same 'bot resurrected another thread in a forum I frequent, concerning Freespace 2, that had it's previous post from 2003. :p
