Just wondering if anyone has thought about connecting a game pad or controller of some kind to play two player games on TV out? Any ideas if this would be possible and what are the chances that any of the emulators will support two player games?

It has been considered.

If the kernel has full USB HID support (and joystick support) you could use an externally powered USB hub and plug in joysticks that way. This assumes alot though.

For instance: Will the on board d-pad and buttons be a joystick device? If so you would probably want to disable it when using a USB device.

I really hope this idea could come to pass. Could you imagine if it was some how possible to be able to play 4 player games, or maybe even a step further, and have up to 8, all using the 2X's USB and a hub?

It'd be a dream come true if it was some how possible to play 6 player Xmen Arcade through a 2X version of Mame on a large screen again...

It all comes down to what they put in the release kernel (or what WE put into our kernels) and seeing how usable MAME is once its running. I expect good things.
