I got a bad USB cable with my GP2X (seems to be somewhat common). With a new cable, had no problems setting up networking, but when I unplug the USB, my GP2X freezes completely.

What I'm trying to do is load web pages (Opera in Qtopia), then unplug and read offline. So far I've tried the following:

1 - Telnet into GP2X from host computer and type "ifconfig usb0 down" (GP2X freezes immediately ...)

2 - Telnet into GP2X from host computer and type "/etc/init.d/network stop" (No effect... tries to kill eth0)

3 - Telnet into GP2X from host computer and type "/usr/gp2x/usbdisconnect.sh" (no effect ... device or resource busy)

With options 2 & 3 GP2X still freezes when unplugged. Has anyone else had this problem and how do you do it?
(Any suggestions welcome!)

Type 'ps'. Killall anything to do with 'telnet', 'inet', 'http', 'smb'/'samba' and 'ftp'.

Then unplug, and see what happens.

No luck (didn't work, still freezes, killed processes with GP2X Sterm (local))
