Please help,

I just got this GP2X Feb 24 2006. Games will not work (I use install icons, I think I have all SDL libraries installed. Vids (avi etc ) cause the system to lock up. I use a card reader. Thus far it has been useless for me. I know this thing has to be great I just cant wait to see it for myself. (I go way back to the C64 days!

Any help would greatly appreciated,

Soky

Firstly, try posting in the gp2x forums instead of the gp32 ones, it may help :p

Secondly, what games have you tried? What happens when you try to play them --- blank screen then back to menu, freeze, just black screen or..?
Vids causing lockup seems strange, normally if something's not formatted properly it'll just whine about that rather than crashing. Try making sure they're properly formatted (i.e. XviD or proper DivX), but other than that I don't have any ideas, I'm no expert on the '2x movie player..

My main piece of advice is --- make sure you're using good batteries! If you're trying to run your '2x on the batteries that came with it, chuck them out and get some decent ones or a PSU. It can be pretty picky about batteries..

This really needs a stick some day!!!!

GP2X USER GUIDE

The gp2x user guide, with very very good setup information, and a step by step for a handful of games.

Thanks for your help. I will try and use an AC Adapter. I have one that is 3.7 Volt / 350 MA. Is this too much! or will it be ok to use?

Thanks again,

Soky

i dont know about the voltage, take a look at the adaptor hole, it usually is stated there.
But 350ma is not enough.

It sounds like you're using the batteries that came with your GP2X. Throw them away and get some rechargables.
