GPD P2 Max - Announced

I wonder if this system can be run without a battery, just attached to the charger. Unlike the previous handheld devices, this is the kind of system I can afford to leave plugged into the mains all of the time especially when the battery is dead. Does anyone have an experience of unplugging the batteries from older GPD devices to give me an expectation on this? Or does it work more like the Pandora did where the battery is an integral part of the power chain, so if you unplug it or remove it, the device won't power on any more.

In my experience, the battery has a much shorter useful life than the rest of the hardware on these kind of devices.
