Handwriting Support?

There must be a programm to make notes whit the touchscreen, you can draw etc, this is linux, nothing is inpossible, but i dont now it is out of the box possible

http://risujin.org/cellwriter/

"CellWriter is a grid-entry natural handwriting input panel. As you write characters into the cells, your writing is instantly recognized at the character level. When you press Enter on the panel, the input you entered is sent to the currently focused application as if typed on the keyboard."

Looks like a worthy addition to the port request page!

i hope this programm works whit my awefull handwritting too..
edit: whe have a keyboards, when i can use the 10 finger system, than i can write faster than whit the hand...
the touchscreen is good for use as mouse and for minigames like solitär, etc

There's also handwriting support in Opie, so it should be possible to hack that into a regular Angstrom build, with a bit of work
Yeah that would be awesome. Maby one of the dev team members cam do this...?

That's great for English. What about other languages? I often have to write in Japanese and I've found the IMEs available for Linux a bit lacking (SCIM in particular frequently crashes and takes all of X11 with it). Something that could recognize touchscreen-written Kanji (much like "Kanji Sonomama Rakubiki Jiten" for Nintendo DS) would be fantastic.

Edit: I see that CellWriter can work with any unicode characters ... but I'd rather not have to train the program for 1000+ Japanese characters, especially when the method to write them is uniform (strokes are always in a certain order)

I know what your mean. Winwdows Mobile also has GREAT support for handwritten Japanese (I don't like the platform otherwise though).

AFIAK there are a few project on Linux for handwritten japanese... Kanjipad which is kind of old and another one, can't remember the name right now.

I would be interested what the new sharp device (http://www.linuxfordevices.com/c/a/News/Sharp-NetWalker-PCZ1-Mobile-Internet-Tool/) will use for output. It's geared towards the Japanese market so...
