How About Them Games on Pandora?

- RPG:

flare : http://repo.openpandora.org/?page=detail&app=flare-flare

Solarus : http://repo.openpandora.org/?page=detail&app=zsdx

(both brake your do not copy rules as the first is a diablo-like and the second a zelda fan game. But they both worth their time)

- Arcade :

Cave Story : http://repo.openpandora.org/?page=detail&app=nxengine (could have fit rpg and plateformer too in a way. well if you never played this one, you have too !)

Paintown : http://repo.openpandora.org/?page=detail&app=paintown-paintown-13108

Shooters :

Pewpew 2 : http://repo.openpandora.org/?page=detail&app=pewpew2

Chromium BSU : http://repo.openpandora.org/?page=detail&app=chromiumbsu ( a very nice and challanging shmup)

KETM : http://repo.openpandora.org/?page=detail&app=ketm-ketm-246123

- TD :

Worship : http://repo.openpandora.org/?page=detail&app=vorship (you wanted a different yet fun TD game, this is it :)

- Racing :

Racer : http://repo.openpandora.org/?page=detail&app=racer3d (not the best game but enjoyable for a quick race.)

That's just out of my ports. And believe me, I'm far from the most profilic on this scene ;)

For rouge squadron there is no direct match. Maybe playing rebel assault in qemu or something, but there are some nice space games like oolite or no gravity.

How well does Mupen64 handle the N64 version of Rouge Squadron? it's one of the games I don't have.

I actually have Cave Story on my 3DS! Excellent game!

The rest of those games look mighty interesting though.

and what about our ladder for arcade games?

http://c4a.openpandora.org/
Wow! That looks so cool!

Also, I just noticed that the extra exclamation marks are making my posts look facetious lol

well I dont think there is a single plateform that have more good to hot shmups than the pandora. Have a look at all those mcobit and M-HT have ported :)
The Tubographx-16 called. It wants its recognition back! ;)

I do hope the Pyra has some fire Gamecube emulation. Rogue Squadron and Starfox Assault ON-THE-GO?! Too amazing.

Man, looks like y'all are bringin' the big boy guns to the Pandora's table. This thing's gonna have me ghosted for a while.

Well, TG-16 stuff plays fine in Mednafen on Pandora :p (or of course, sebt3's excellent emu!)

I'll second Oolite. That should tick your sci-fi, RPG and shooter boxes.

Thinking on car sims, can anyone recommend a good one on Pandora? I've tried one or two 3D efforts that kind of tick that box, but as I recall they were a bit buggy and slow. At least we're not short of arcade racers, like the F-1 Spirit Remake.

I heard there was a decent port of Lemmings already, so I think I'll pass on this one. I very much enjoy tower defense games as long as I can upgrade my towers (customization would be nice though). I generally like arcade games, so I may check that one out when I get a Pandora.
NanoLemmings is not just a port or remake of Lemmings, it's a new game. The game mechanics are quite different. It's inspired by Lemmings, but unlike LemmingsSDL and Pingus, it's not a Lemmings clone.

In Microbes you can certainly upgrade your towers, in fact it has quite a lot of different units and upgrade paths for a tower defense game. Here is a screenshot of the help screen showing the tech tree (and that's just a fragment of the list):

I wrote three games specifically for the Pandora: Microbes (a relatively complex tower defense game)
The only tower defense game I know of is Dino Defense and I only have the beta version of that (haven't updated yet)
Yes, Dino Defense is very nice -- it's a kind of platformer TD (as in side view, not top view), which is pretty cool. But it's certainly not the only TD game for the Pandora :)

Alright, dump what I said about NanoLemmings then.

That Microbes game looks fire though!

Wow, our right! I did forget about Microbes. I know what I'm going to be doing when I get home now... that is after updating this list with my recommended rpg's and testing out ToME...

This thread is a gold mine, plenty of games I haven't tried yet are popping up. Awesome!  =)

Let's not forget all the Kenta Cho ones (most of them ported by M-HT and Mcobit, I think).

No good car sim on Pandora (apart from the ones you can play in emulators, that is), but that's not just the Pandora, it's Linux in general: a real lack of good car games.

EDIT: TORCS is actually OK - but it's too demanding for the Pandora at this stage.

Microbes is really good (and different) for a tower defense game.  It was one of the first games I played on my Pandora.  I didn't progress very far, as life got in the way, but it does kick ass.  It is an interesting idea if you go with the story instead of thinking of it as tower defense.

With TORCS it depends a lot on the track, but you can forget about racing against other cars in my opinion ... and to be honest: it's not very pretty ...

ManiaDrive is quite cool if you're into Trrackmania (and get used to the controls).

For fancy graphics and wheel to wheel action you have to use an emulator though ... a real shame that not even the Sierra titles (IndyCar Racing II, Nascar Racing) run at playable speeds in DosBox ... I spend countless hours playing those games when I was young! Would be nice to play them again (they're just too ugly on a big screen by today's standards ... and playing those with a Logitech G25 without FFB? No way! :D )

Hopefully on the Pyra ...

I've one of the late 90s F1 games on N64, and that runs fine under Mupen64.  Being N64 it's a bit low-rez, and it's sim-lite rather than a dedicated sim, but it runs okay on my GHz.

hum, I've yet to try the Gran Tourismo in the PSX emulator... are theses running well?

Pretty much all the games I throw at PSXReARMed seem to work well.. I play Colin McRae Rally all the time and looks good at double resolution mode and use the game's widescreen setting.
