Hmm, somewhat hard to explain.
Small happy but calm farming town/village where the main character lived when he was young.

If you are using a tracker then the original MOD/IT/XM or whatever format.

Otherwise High Quality MP3 or OGG.

how high quality for mp3 and ogg do you mean cos my high quality is 35+ mb per track

well that's overkill for me... LAME VBR alt preset standard or LAME -r3mix works well for me. I'm not so familiar with OGG settings... so something roughly equivalent.

sorry i had a bit of a delay with the music my macbook has died so... it might take me a while to get it sorted

sorry know this is slightlyoff topic but slow calm watery music/farming small town and young boy. reminding me of illusion of time (gaia) on the snes.

on topic: what instrument set up or synthesizers you using?

i'd like a good sea shanty. not for any game, mind you. i just feel like a sea shanty. arrrghhh!

"we'll be friggin in the riggin cos theres fuck all else to do"

Sounds like a nice setup, myself I have a PC running Cool Edit Pro, Cakewalks Sonar, a basic midi keyboard and a Studiomix Midi console (the one with motorised faders). It does what I want and is fun to use :). Here's a little pic:
