i just played for more than 6 hours with my wiz. i played most of all console handheld that use emulators( gp2x, gp32, zodiac, psp, nds, gba...)

1. MY first surprise was definately Snes. i love the psp snes emulator, but now the wiz surprised me. a lot better performance than gp2x. The snes emulators at 800 mhz runs great with any games ( except fx games and mariokart) 60 Fps for any games most of the time when transparency off.

I did all my test with Fullscreen scaled screen size. Even in fullscreen the snes emu look good. anyway i cant play a emulator in a small square when the screen size is 2.8 '. my eyes cant.

Chrono trigger with transparency off in Battle: 58 to 60 fps) i didnt notice any slow down ( similar to psp performance)
F-zero wow 30 fps very stable. The only game i found faster on the wiz than psp.( psp faster than wiz in snes for most games even with transparency on but fzero got only 20fps )
Mariokart, only 20-23 fps. barely playable. ( psp handle 30 fps all the time, more playable on psp)

But all others games i tried 60 fps: mario allstars, castlevania 4, final fantasy 4(2US), mario world, mega man x, island 4, secret of mana ( 30 to 45 fps with transparency ON 60fps when OFF) very impressive i thought the snes was slow, but not at all. :) ALL GAMES TESTED WITH SOUND ON at 22050

i think 90% of games must run at 60fps with trnasparency off

2. Genesis emulator. Runs great , sonic games runs at 60 fps all the times. The black is very impressive in casino night stage. The Oled screen of the Wiz is unbelieveble. But i can detect a small blur in fast motion action in sonic. im very sensitive to it. more blur than CRT TV. But a lot less blur than any lcd screen. I tried to scale others genesis games that are not 320x200 native resolution, and they look pretty nice but a little soft.

3. The nes emulator work perfectly too. But i cant play nes in the small square so i use the scaling option, with that option the screen is full screen scaled. theres a problem the end of the screen is at the begginning of the screen strange problem. about 1 centimeter of the screen is at the begginning. But even with that problem i played full scaled. but the screen is not really full scaled because its not vertical full screen. snes was 100% fullscreen scaled. Anyway the nes emulator with the scaled option look not really good. the snes look better. the screen is too much soft and you miss some details and it so blurry that my eyes cries.

PLEASE WE NEED A NES 100% FULL SCALED SCREEN SIZE THAT WORK PERFECLTY LIKE THE SNES ONE. PLEASE FIND A WAY TO REMOVE THE END OF THE SCREEN AT THE BEGIINING OF THE SCREEN ITS VERY ANNOYING. THANKS lol

4. Gamegear. AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Who can play gamegear with no FULLSCREEN OPTION. the screen is so small, its like playing gamegear in a watch. but its seem fullspeed

5. unfortunately the gameboy emulator is not full SPEED. its not really playable. not for me. This emu offer differents scaling option that look very nice. I love playing gb and gbc , i hope someone will optimize the emulator to get full speed soon. Or maybe the clock option dont work for real. How is possible to not get full speed on a gameboy mono emulator with 800mhz ?? LOL

6. the gameboy advance runs great at 800 mhz. some games runs better on the wiz, some games runs better on the psp. but all games runs better than gp2x.
i was surprised that mariokart runs near perfect on the wiz. better than psp. but unfortunately the castlevania games like dissonance, runs near perfect on psps but need frameskip on the Wiz occasionaly.
The full scaling option look good. i used this option to play. i dont know how people can play a emulator unscaled on a 2.8' screen size they got wonderful eyes that i dont have.

Sincerely i love my Wiz but i find the 2.8 screen size a problem. i really prefer the 3.5' of gp32 and gp2x. IM DREAMING OF A OLED SCREEN at 3.5'

On thing that i found difficult to deal with it, is the colorful oled screen in some games. The colors are too colorful and poping in sonic games and in a lot of snes and nes games too.
but its very impressive i never seen soo rich colors on a screen.

is there a way to remove a little colors, i cant find any option in the wiz setting ? thanks for answer.

( SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH, I TRY MY BEST)

Were you using lemonboy? you must not have set it up properly, like did you set the vsync rate until you got 60 fps?

Latest Lemonboy still seems to have stuttering sound for me.

Yes sound has always stunk, I will attempt that, but the emulation speed should not be an issue.

This happened on the original NES hardware too, but old CRT screens would clip it to some extent.

¿Are you using the HeadoverHells' Pocket SNES? I get much better results than you at 800 Mhz with transparencies on.

Examples (all with transparencies ON and Advances sound hack ON, using Pocket SNES FAST version and pollux):

Super Mario Kart (E): 34-37FPS
F-Zero (E): 36-38 FPS
Chrono trigger: Fullspeed
Secret of mana: Fullspeed

i think 90% of games must run at 60fps with trnasparency off
I think that about 90% of games run fullspeed with transparencies ON. Be sure to use the Headoverhells SNES hack.

Ah! And dont forget to use pollux with new RAM and LCD timings. You will gain some extra FPS.

F-Zero (E) with transparencies OFF: 49-51FPS (fullspeed)

i just tried the fast version too and i dont get any improvement in mariokart. at 800mhz ( no transparency) i got 22fps in the first race full scaled (mushroom) and got 25-26fps when unscaled. How can you get 37 fps ????????? please tell me

i downloaded the last emulator in wiz section. Is it the headoverhells version ?

and about gameboy emu. i dont see any vsync option. i cant have more than 51 fps when playing super mario land 2. i tried all options

ok i got 33 fps in mariokart unscaled with sound hack ON. What i can do to get the others FPS ?
thanks

and pollux ? what is that thing ?
ok i downloaded it. But i dont know what to do with it to use it with pocketsnes fast version
and if it can remove teraing i will be happy.
thanks for help.

ok i thing i got it. You really gain much more fps in snes emu.

i wrote this script in a file i call pocketsnes3.gpe:

#!/bin/sh

./pollux_set 'lcd_timings=397,1,37,277,341,0,17,337;dpc_clkdiv0=9;cpuclk=800;ram_timings=2,9,4,1,1,1,1'
./pocketsnes_fast $*

cd /usr/gp2x
exec ./gp2xmenu

i modified the file from neo geo emulator with notepad. you cant modify it with wordpad.

WHY NO FAQ EXPLAIN THIS CLEARLY, HE COULD BE VERY USEFUL FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE. YOU GAIN A LOT OF SPEED. I hope ram timings are not dangerous ? isnt ?

OK I EXPLAIN IT FOR NO CODER USER. IM NOT A CODER AND I DID IT. I GOT 20 FPS JUST IN FZERO:

I DID IT WITH WINDOWS NOTEPAD. IT REALLY WORK. BUT NOT WORK WITH WORDPAD.
BUT I HAVE TO USED THE neo geo file ( rage2x.gpe) i edit the file with notepad. i was caution and changed only what was needed. and save it as pocksnes3.gpe

You really gain much more fps in snes emu.

i modified this script in the rage2x.gpe (neogeo emulator file) ( i call it pocketsnes3.gpe:

#!/bin/sh

./pollux_set 'lcd_timings=397,1,37,277,341,0,17,337;dpc_clkdiv0=9;cpuclk=800;ram_timings=2,9,4,1,1,1,1'
./pocketsnes_fast $*

cd /usr/gp2x
exec ./gp2xmenu

WHY NO FAQ EXPLAIN THIS CLEARLY, HE COULD BE VERY USEFUL FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE. YOU GAIN A LOT OF SPEED. I hope ram timings are not dangerous ? isnt ?

all work correctly and i gain 20 FPS in F-zero. UNBELIEVEBLE

lol didnt this topic start with the line "i just played for more than 6 hours with my wiz"
....

i played more than 6 hours in the same day. i played 2 hours in the morning. after that i recharge my wiz. i played 2 hours in after noon and 2 hours in evening. i charge my wiz in each playing session :)

i never play 6 hours without stop.

i play near 3 hours yesterday without stop at 800 mhz and and battery was still 2/3 or 3/4 full

i want to end my topic, with the truth. All snes games i tried with the optimized settings on the wiz or FASTER than any psp game i tried ( even with the last modded version of snestyl for psp)

However a lot of games have similar performance. mario kart win by a few fps only like for others games. However final fantasy 3 and f-zero are much faster on the wiz.

i found all games playable with the wiz. the games i tried , i tried around 40-50 games. no one under 30 fps. the most of them with transparency have 60fps

Good results, but I don't know if the battery level indicator can be trusted. If you ever do play from full charge to power off at 800MHz let us know.

ok

yesterday i played 3-4 hours of snes at 800mhz without stop. the battery was not dead.

But i suppose i will have to play at least 6 hours to test 100% of the battery.

i will try to do it soon.

If you do end up doing a longer test, please keep track of the exact start/end times with this. Thanks.

FYI, I've posted a thread here detailing battery life at 300, 533, and 800Mhz, along with the lowest and highest brightness settings, and what you can run with each setting. I'm still working on it, but it's coming along.
