Hi

I wanted to install dev tools onto the NAND using Torpor's method as described here http://pandorawiki.o..._on_the_Pandora

However as the guide now warns, this method breaks the OS in more recent versions (it can't execute login, I think it's an issue to do with the terminal being broken!).

I've managed to install working dev environment via trial and error and I haven't had any issues with it yet.

WARNING: I don't really know what I'm doing so don't come crying to me if you screw anything up based on my advice!

What I did was (inside a terminal):

sudo bash

opkg update

opkg install gcc_4.3.3 gcc-symlinks gcc-doc make_3.81 make-dev

opkg install g++_4.3.3 g++-symlinks

opkg install cpp cpp-symlinks

opkg install libstdc++-dev

opkg remove libpng --force-depends

opkg install libpng-dev

opkg install libsdl-1.2-dev libsdl-gfx-dev libsdl-image-1.2-dev libsdl-ttf-2.0-dev

opkg install libsdl-net-1.2-dev

opkg install libsdl-mixer-1.2-dev --nodeps

the --nodeps is important as sdl-mixer appears to install dependencies that breaks the OS.

Also I've avoided installing binutils-dev as this also seems to cause problems as it not needed to a basic environment.

Enjoy

Dave

You know Dave, I was and am stupid enough to have almost posted and continued to do so, that;

Thanks for your guide. This should be pinned somewhere

Not entirely sure if this will work on the latest OS version but you have 2 other options available aswell as Torpors method.

1) http://repo.openpandora.org/?page=detail&app=cdevtools.freamon.40n8e C+ Development PND, which will create a dev environment within certain boundaries each time it is run.

2) Dave1234's OPKG Installer PND http://www.pandorabits.org/index.php?page=opkg-installer which covers installing Dev Tools, to the appdata directory of preferably an SD Install of the OS, as it takes about 700mb of space and the NAND has precious little.

In the Development section of a little handheld I know nothing of the running of, rather than the support section, where I blindly led myself to the thought your post had originated from.

I'll get my coat and let myself trout with no fish :eek:

Hmm, on the guide I've not installed libgles-omap3 as it seems to cause a problem with XBMC, however not installing it causes a problem with Notaz's SDL lib if you use the setting 'export SDL_VIDEODRIVER=omapdss'.
