More Powaaaaaaa!!!!!

There is no regulator within the gp32_console , in fact the transformer is a regulator. Basically if you use 5V power supply you will fry the delicate electronics in a faily short period because it is 66% more power than stated (usually electronic devices allow some tolerance on power supply that is why good rechargable batteries at 2.4V work in a 3V device). Try it and see if I am right

my ac/dc adapter died when i played for a while at 4,5V with my gp32, but the gp itself is all fine. so use 3V instead!

Hence why you should pick up a couple of sets of NiMh rechargeables and a quick charger. Trust me, you'll do better for yourself. They last only marginally less time than good batteries do, and they're a LOT cheaper if you use your GP much at all...

2100 or 2300 mAh are the favourites, but 1800mAh or 1700 ones should keep you going for a fair while too (mine do :) )

I can go to Sams club and get Nimh batteries 2100 mah (12 pack) for 20 USd.
You can go the Walmart and get them for (4 pack) 8 USD (4 pack with charger 20 USD.)
SO you have choices.....and believe me they are worth it.

If I was using alkalines...I would have sent well over 1320 USD so far.
Its worth the money.
