I am trying to get the OpenPandora OpenEmbedded repository to bitbake. update-rc.d won't download from the handhelds.org cvs repository. Seems their site is down. Any one else experience this? OpenPandora has one of the best OpenEmbedded overlays I have seen. Nicely organized.

handhelds.org cvs is down and apparently only returning on 1st March. As a work around:

  1. Check the "sources" directory under your openembedded root e.g. ~/pandora/sources You should find a .lock file that relates to the recipe, in this case:

    Code:
    apps.update-rc.d_anoncvs.handhelds.org_r0_7_.tar.gz.lock

  2. Google or or use the http://sources.openembedded.org/ mirror to find the matching archive e.g.

    Code:
    apps.update-rc.d_anoncvs.handhelds.org_r0_7_.tar.gz

    can be found at:

    Code:
    http://sources.openembedded.org/apps.update-rc.d_anoncvs.handhelds.org_r0_7_.tar.gz
  3. Download the file to the "sources" directory.
  4. In a terminal in the "sources" directory, generate an MD5 with:

    Code:
    md5sum [filename] | awk '{print $1}' > [filename].md5

    e.g.

    Code:
    md5sum apps.update-rc.d_anoncvs.handhelds.org_r0_7_.tar.gz | awk '{print $1}' > md5sum apps.update-rc.d_anoncvs.handhelds.org_r0_7_.tar.gz.md5
  5. Delete the .lock file
  6. Rerun bitbake.

IIRC: a valid .md5 and archive causes bitbake to use the on-disk cache and skip the fetch.
