Hi all

its been a long time since I've been on the forums looks like a lot cool things have happened while I've been away :) really liking the look of the wiz and pandora and the new forums looking nice too.

Anyway I didn't have a lot to do over the Christmas break so I dusted off my GP2x and tried to do a bit of programming. I had a concept for a dungeon crawler a long long time ago but I struggled with the code. So I decided to give it another try.

Here is what I managed to get done.
Its just a concept but I was pleased to get it up and running.

I've always wanted to create procedurally generated level so the game is always something new.
I have converted a php perfect maze generator in found into c++

here is a link

http://www.emanueleferonato.com/2008/12/06/perfect-maze-generation-tile-based-version/

here is the code some dev may find it useful.
Again I apologise about the code C++ is not really my strong point.

here is a little game I've been working I am compiling it for the pc and when
I am happy with it I'll be porting it to the GP2x. Its a bit buggy at the moment ;)

not sure how long it'll take to finish I've only just workout how to move between states :)

anyway I thought someone maybe able to do something cool with the maze generator.

take it easy :)

Hi,

I've tried your "game" and it works and looks very well, 25-30 fps @ 200MHz on my GP2X F200 with Open2X DR 7 :)

Keep up the good work, I love dungeon crawlers !

Bye and thanks, Magic Sam

This looks very nice, good luck making it into a full game. I think brighter colours would work better, sometimes it's hard to see on the GP2X screen.

Nice maze algo too, I love how simple and effective these things are :)
