Hi there

I final get a bit of time over the weekend to do some coding
and have almost finished my first game. I have never really
done any C programing before.

I know the title of the game it crap but I couldn't think of
anything else.

it a really simple puzzel game where you match up
the sqaures.

here are some screen shots

All I need to do now is get Dev CPP to compile for the GP2x
Something I have been struggling with and then adding the sound.

hopefully I'll work out all that stuff soon enough :)

Looking sharp, very nice work mac-10!

My only suggestions as far as graphics go is to use a 5_6_5 filter on the background gradient to eliminate colour banding, and perhaps use alpha blending (prerendered?) instead of the oblique stripes, I can imagine those being a bit hard on the eyes.

hi there

well I finally got some free time and have all most finished
I have just got the combo system to put in place
and get some sound in there, but I am have a nightmare with that

anyway I was hoping someone could give it a little test run to see how it plays
and any feed back would be much appreciated.

here is a link to download it

Thanks again

Mac :)

Sorry, I must have overlooked this. I gave it a try just now, and it looks very sharp. One thing youmust do though is include a readme file that explains the goal and the controls. I am a bit confused about what I am supposed to do (is it clearing the whole board of squares?). I seem to be able to destroy squares sometimes by moving one besides another, and sometimes by moving one on top of another; are both rules in play?

Very nice first release!

PS: thanks for ditching the diagonal-line pattern! :)

This looks very promising, 1170 is my best score:( As alex said really, although I've got the basic idea :)

Do you intend to add things like a highscore table and a summary at the end of each attempt? One thing that I wanted to know was how many blocks I had left after each attempt (to see if I was improving or actually getting worse!).

Other potential areas of development would be some sort of visual that improves dependent to the size of the combos? As a first release however, its very well done :)

Thanks for getting back to me I sorry but I got a little impatient
I will defiantly do a readme file.
You right the objective is to remove as many squares as you can.

As for the removal of square it a little bit harder to explain

The area around the square you move is affected.

R = red
G = green
B = blue
X = Blank

affected area.

RRG
BGR
GBB

Tells say you replace the central Green with a Red square you would remove the following Red squares.

XXG
BXX
GBB

This means when I have finished put the combo system together you can do some large combos.
Alex you where right about the diagonal line thank you for the advice.

Thanks

Mac

Ps do you know of any good sound tutorials trying to get sound to run is proving to be a real ballache

Pretty good game, especially as you are new to C. :)

It looks very nice and sharp, but i think that there are two squares with different shades of blue that are a bit too hard to tell them apart.

Also it would be good if you could add a different button to press that takes you back to the main menu instead of just pressing start to quit the game.
