did rott write to my nand since I now always seem to get this folder on boot?

Is it OK to remove and how?

OK, broken record here.

Can anyone "please" look at their directory and confirm this before I write a complaint to Puck?

Or even better, Puck gets to read this and give us the answer.

This does not seem like a "safe" thing. I would expect the programs that make changes to nand to reflect that.

Quiet in this thread... ;)
Sorry, can't help - maybe have look at the source code (if available) to see what/why it does this?
Don't know any reason why it should write to anywhere but it's install directory..

Considering the gp2x menu does a chdir to the sd card before launching any application, it is indeed odd that there should be a .rott file in your /usr/gp2x directory, unless of course you ran it via telnet.

I'd delete it and see if it re-appears before sending a complaint.

A lot of Linux applications put their data in the home directory. Usually this is /root for root.

When I port stuff I usually include

export HOME=`pwd`/data

in the start up script so this doesn't happen.

May be rott sets HOME to /usr/gp2x
