Thanks. Gigas Engine is a Rpg Maker and Engine for the Gp32.
You make the game on your Gp32. Which is the nice part. :)
Although it would be good to have an editor for Gigas on PC
(ok and Linux + Mac, too <_< ). But they're working on it.

I think I'd release it in episodes. That way, you get something
to play with quickly while I make more. And once your done with
one episode, you could switch it out on your smc thus saving space,
instead of having one big rpg on there all the time till your done with it.

Dunno how gigas works, but that shouldn't be too hard to get around with a savefile or password system... savefile would probably be best as it could also keep track of your level/stats/items and whatnot...
Aside from the point that if people wanna cheat, that's their problem... they're just ruining the game for themselves.

Thinking of several ways around the saving with episodes...

Here's some ways:

Use Savefile (don't know if that's possible)
Use Password
Have all episodes start at lvl 1 (hehe)
or...
Forget It.

Got any others?

EDIT: I will have the possibility to save your progress in each episode
don't know about saving involving the completion of each episode. (hope you all understood that). Then again I might just forget the whole thing.

just make us a good rpg :p

im really want to see a good gigas game
it happens to often that we have mighty tools but noone uses them :(

I think, and no disrespect intended to piriotic, that the reason more people havent used gigas is the lack of PC (or mac or linux, whatever) based editor. I would love to havea go at gigas but the thought of making an entire game using the gp32 turns me off a bit.

Well, I am gonna prototype it in RpgMaker2k because
Gigas really just doesn't have enough features yet.
I think Pirotic should take some open source PC rpg
editor and adapt it to fit with Gigas. Or maybe tell
somebody the format of the files so that they can.

It would be nice to have .WAV and .MOD file support.
I would also need to have "events" that can execute
automatically, all the time in the background, when
a hotspot is activated, or when certain items are used.

also, gigas has been very incomplete up until recently... it's only coming into its own for making real games (rather than demos) round about now, with sound support planned (i think) for version 0.75...

By the time Gigas is good enough to
make it in, I might be done already.
So if such a thing happens, I won't release
it in episodes, unless it's really big.
The battle system will be
Diablo style (hack 'n slash). Not because it's
the only style right now on Gigas, but because
it's my favorite. :)

Check out this thread every day or so for updates.

Don't bother. If I ever get anything done I will release it, but for now
I can't do much.
