The biggest computer/gaming mistake you have ever made.

I remember buying one of those third-party PSX memory cards way back... It advertised on the box that it offered something ridiculous like ten or twenty times the storage of a regular card. And it did!

But it required a CD and you had to compress/decompress your data with a super clunky and slow interface every time you started the console.

Guess who settled for a regular card the next day!

Hey, I just thought of something! My biggest computer/gaming mistake ever was making Bowser's Last Stand in Game Maker. Because now, I can't port it to the Pandora or even play it on GNU/Linux on a regular desktop PC. (Well, I can use Wine on a regular PC, but sound doesn't work.) It matters because this is an extremely fun and addicting game.
So ... Why can't you port it ... I wanna play it on pandora or ... Stuff will happen .

Erm, because Game Maker is proprietary software, and hasn't been ported to the Pandora (and if it was, they would only let me use it by buying "Game Maker Studio" for the ludicrous price of $100). ENIGMA isn't developed enough to work with my game.

I tend to read your post as if it's some sort of joke, but... I don't get it.

Oh ok that is a good explanation as for the joke its sorta a refrence to every cheesy action movie ever made .

Quake 3, who the hell decided it would be a good idea to dispense with the story?

My Dell Studio 17 laptop. The entire 17in screen opens on two miniscule pieces of plastic inside the (large) hinge casing. These inevitably break, leaving it to open on the laptop bezel. In time, this cracks, leaving you to open on the screen. £500 for a laptop that lasts at most two years before a repair fee in the hundreds, even though it's a recognised problem, and googling it gives you hundreds of identical cases. The size of the screen means the battery lasts months before it's a case of using the charger constantly. Which would be fine, but the charger is pathetic, I've sat on the other side of the room and watch it fall out completely on its own, with no weight but the lead itself acting upon it.. Heh, Desktop from PC specialist next time!

K, ive got a new one that beats owning an NeoGeo MVS at the age of 12.

Putting my pandora 1ghz in the corner on the floor next to my pc to let it usb charge.

the reason it was a bad idea is because i dropped my remote while walking trough the living room, and accidentally kicked it straight into my pandora's screen.

I hope ED wont be schocked too much at the remains of the screen when he opens the box :(

Actually, its not so bad, screen got a huge crack, and the cable is probably broken too, but the rest of the system works fine.

Send it for RMA.

How is that an RMA? Should be a paid repair, no?

This weekend I accidentally deleted /usr/lib. Had to reinstall the OS entirely.

Happend to me once, too when I wanted to delete the /usr/lib from a toolchain but was too fast with rm and autocompletion and in the wrong terminal :(

Something along these lines: During my first ever toolchain install, I extracted it over my root directory... yeah... strangeness happened. Turns out x86 computers don't like half their binaries and libraries being ARM.

Like something out of those repetitive movies in which all these teenagers die in hilarious ways. There's just more drama here.

Edit: Heh, all the more reason for an IR remote that plugs into the Pandora. Side with your enemy and save your ass :D

Bought Mario Kart Double Dash second hand off ebay for £20 and decided to give it a good clean before putting it in my Gamecube for a very anticipated first play through. Didn't realise my mum had been cleaning stuff with the cloth and had put nail varnish remover on it. Melted the disc in about 5 seconds flat and I never got to play it :(

First time I ever fixed a computer I left one of the metal motherboard stands in the wrong place when putting in the new board. Started smoking and died straight away. That mistake cost me £90, but it was worth the money as I've never screwed up an install since :)

I bought a netbook. I'll bet someone will post here one day with their regrets about buying a windows 8 pc.

I remember that "Barcode Battler", afaik it is some cult Handheld today. :D Scanning barcodes to find the strongest one and battle against another. "Chocolate-Warrior against Butter-Butcher" or something like that. XD
