First of all I did this thing for enterntainment
Take this with a pinch of salt.

OK, so I took my Competition Pro joystick (broken one) from my C64 and made it to a GP2X joystick "cap".
Here's what I did:

1. Unscrew it and saw off the round plastic thing.
2. Managed to get the stick itself out.
3. Took a iron saw and sawed off the iron stick.
4. Glued on a piece of plastic housing that was around the iron stick before.
5. Found a pencil, cut a piece of it, take the lead out and stick it in the plastic casing with glue, letting about 0.5 cm stick out.
6. Put superglue in the hole where he lead was, put it on the gp2x, let it dry a moment and presto I had the right shaped hole in it!

It is portable; You can take it off and put it in your pocket anytime.
Is that a ZIPSTICK in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?

What I think is other than the fact that it looks ridiculous, the stick mechanism in the Gp2X will last about 4.76 minutes before breaking to bits :p

Miika did you mod the GP2X or Competition Pro? It seems a GP2X attached to it.

Looks increadibly portable!

Miika, you are crazy in an artistic way :D
I find your mod so cool, but I don't think it is that portable, and as DaveC said, I doubt the inner parts of the GP2X stick can handle such a thing.

:) Thanks for comments folks. Glad if someone got a laugh here, but yes I am aware that such big joystick could break the small component there, so I was quite careful when using it.
Ah, and I don't actually use this, but did it for fun and should be considered as a joke. :p

Ha ha haha man... that is actually the damned game that broke this real Competition Pro when I played it...
Insane game, God bless the poor GP2X when this game is tried on it.

lol... I am speechless. I wonder if it's actually usable.

I first saw this topic about 4 hours ago ... I finally stopped laughing long enough to type a coherent reply ...

Hmm, now if only . . .

Nah, where would I find a pterodactyl this time of the year?

Was the stick broke? I would love to do a real micro-switched mod of that sort, but then you need mashable buttons too.

Pterodactyl? What's that?
Yeah, the Competition Pro was broken already so why not.
