The Pandora Port Request Thread

Pandora Wiki Hexen and Doom are already being ported ;)
Mechcommander 2 relies on DirectX, it would need a complete redevelopment of the 3D engine...
(That is why I removed it from the wiki page)

I'm hungry. How about Ultima 6? There is an open-source version called Nuvie at http://nuvie.sourceforge.net/.

Unfortunately, I think it has been abandoned (along with U6O, an MMO version, :( ) I pulled the source from SVN. It's C++/Lua and SDL. Some good docs! Anyways, U6 is an awesome game and would rock on the Pandora.

Oh well, I should have guessed that, it WAS published by Microsoft...

I know Doom and Hexen are being ported, I'd just really like to see Doomsday on the Pandora as well-ZDoom is a great source port, but Doomsday has that little bit of extra flash that makes playing those older games a real treat.

Just to let people know, I've been talking to Running With Scissors (the guys that made Postal) about a possible Postal 2 port to Pandora, and Icculus (their guy in charge of ports) said it was 'feasible but not worth the effort'. Oh well! That would've been fun. :(

What about The digital Universe Atlas? It's a great app for visualising our Universe. I couldn't find much info about the licence but it's free open source and available for linux. Digital Universe Atlas
But can it be run on ARM-devices?

souce code appears to be avaible.

anyone else intersted?

Good news! That first one is Java so (probably) doesn't need any changes. It'll just run.
The second one looks like it should just compile no problem, assuming it doesn't have any weird dependencies. I'll have a look at it tonight.

Of course you'll be able to play the DOS, ST, Amiga and c64 versions of this as well - but I agree an exult like port would have been far better. Never got very far into U6 (played 5 and Serpent isle a lot more).

this would be very cool! The 2nd lone wolf book is probably my favourite game book. There was a very good port of books 1 and 2 for the DS (can't remember the web site at the mo). Still have about 20 or so Lone wolf and Fighting Fantasy books up in the loft.

A port of Call to power 2 for the pandora would be fantastic. The source code is available, although there are some restrictions. A linux port is already classified as fully playable. I imagine it may still take some work porting to the pandora.

The homepage is at: http://apolyton.net/ctp2/
A faq can be found at: http://apolyton.net/forums/showthread.php?threadid=139275
Source code: http://ctp2.darkdust.net/

My coding is pretty limited, but it seems like it may be possible. Is anyone able to confirm the possiblity?

What would really make my day is a port of Anki. Not at all a game, but a practical flashcard making resource with single button, built in voice recorder and a P2P network with hundreds of language quiz packs.

I did a search on the forums, and someone had already suggested porting it I believe, but it was brushed over because it has an online version. Said online version is a hundredfold inferior to the downloadable version, with missing features like statistics and separately tagged card decks.

http://ichi2.net/anki/
It is open source and already has respectable android and iPhone ports, but a Pandora port would make not only my day, but my entire semester. I've been living off this software to get through Spanish IV and Biochem, and a portable version would be one of the best things EVER.

If there is no initial interest, I'd be willing to front some cash into this venture, but I hope it doesn't come to that.

I would like to request a port of Mini vMac. It's an emulator for the Macintosh Plus tha runs very well. I have the iPhone port, and it runs without a hitch. Surely something that runs on my iPod Touch's 550 MHz processor could run on the Pandora?

yeah so i think it could be ported cause it has been done for a many of smart phones and pda's and uses bluetooth its a laser keyboard. here is a link to where you can get it or some one can correct me on weather the soft wear can be ported to work. http://www.thinkgeek.com/electronics/8193/ I saw some one was able to get the ps# controller to work so i was hoping maybe this could be too. If it could be I request it.

I suspect that the drivers are only for certain features of the device. The reason I think this is due to this quote, from their compatibility information;

We were able to get the Bluetooth Virtual Laser Keyboard to work with Mac OSX using the built-in bluetooth support in the OS. However, there is no driver software for Mac included with the keyboard and therefore no way to set the keyboard preferences such as brightness, key-repeat rate and sensitivity. You have been warned!

I would guess that, quite likely, the same would occur with any Linux distribution, including the Pandora's.

That said, if it has been ported to many smartphones, could you please provide a link to the source code for the drivers? (Ports cannot be done without source code.)

I totally second that, and I'd also be willing to join funding the port in case a developer requests it. Even with a web version, just as Amigo Bandito Crujiente said, the stand-alone version is much better, and in many situations you might want to do some flashcard study you won't be able to get online, so...

I think this software is really a must have for a device like the Pandora.

I know this isn't totally opensource ( the mod is opensource but the original game isn't ) but if someone could get counterstrike (original) running then it would be a great tech demo for the pandora (and it would be totally awesome)

If the original game isn't open source, then that isn't possible. Sorry. ;)

EDIT: Ah, hi and welcome! Wow, so many newcomers lately. :)

100% impossible unfortunately, without the full source code. Hi and welcome anyway. :)
