According to most of the guides and posts on this board it is possible to encode a movie for the GP32 in an hour to an hour 1/2, hoever when ever I encode a movie it akes about 7 hours, even on a 2,3ghz, 256mb computer! (which I believe should be fast enough to do it in 2 hours max!)

If anyone could help me out and suggest how to reduce this time then I would be very grateful!

:) :) :)

Are you encoding from a Hi-Res movie? That would slow it down quite a bit.. There could also be other things, but since I don't use VDub alot, I can't tell you.

Im using VDub 154 (P4 opt) without any problems
It takes about 15min to encode an anime episode (about 20-25min) so 7h for a movie....
Maybe youre runnig with a 2.3MHz...lol
You should change maybe your Vdub version to something higher
see you ;)

I doubt it'll make that much difference, but try defragmenting your drive. Anything that causes a lot of disk access will also slow down the process, so try to have as little as possible running in the background at the same time.

It certainly shouldn't take as long as is!

Are you encoding from a DVD or another divx?
Encoding DVD is much more longer than divx...

Even from a 8Gig + DVD it shouldnt take that long on your machine. I can rip, encode and transfer to Gp32 under 1 and a half hours.......

Sorry I cant help though

p.S What method were you trying??
