Torrent Client

Apparently the Pandora's default (full) desktop will now be XFCE which uses GTK anyway, so Transmission would probably be the best bet.

I used to use Azureus but it just seemed too slow, even on my desktop computers. Yeah it would probably be a bad choice :(

Azureus is probably a bit heavy for the little thing, ain't it?

Azureus is a bit heavy for any PC. It seems no matter what hardware you throw at it, it always finds a way to be ridiculously slow

Still, avoiding KDE and KDE related dependancies would be preferable, Transmission is completely standalone, afaik, doesnt rely on any DE or WM.

Transmission relies on GTK. It's no more standalone than KTorrent is, though there are other factors in how lightweight something is than whether it uses Qt or GTK.
Edit: My bad, looks like there's a Qt version as well. In either case, those dependencies are still there.

quite a slow reply here, on my linux system, yes, indeed i have some GTK packages installed, but more than one software depending on it.
If you installed ktorrent youd get some KDE packages JUST for that, which is kinda unecessary imho, i'd rather have a few apps that uses some GTK instead.

My point of view is just to keep the needed packages at a minimum, to save both space and keep performance.

This is actually one of the reasons I'm excited about the Pandora, right now I leave my desktop on 24 hours a day just for torrents, wasting tons of power. I won't feel bad leaving my Pandora on 24 hours.

I use Transmission right now, I used Azureus until it turned into 'Vuze' and got all that extra media crap.

Also, Transmission has an 'easy to get' blocklist, it's just in the options, makes me feel safer.

There's a difference between requiring GTK/Qt and requiring KDE libs.
Now I don't know how much ktorrent depends on, but I know a lot of the time installing one random KDE app involves around 50MB of other packages.
And it will almost certainly have GTK/Qt anyway.
