This is a dumb quesiton, but I'm asking it anyway :)

Craig sent me a TV-out to fix OutcaST to work; wickedbad, it just showed up, and has an S-Video connector on it. I put together a adapter and no-go, so I went out and bought an adapter just in case.. still no go.

Firmware is updated to 1.2.1
Ran the patcher so the TV-out settings tool is present

Connect to TV; fresh boot the GP2x.

Using the LCd, run Settings -> TV Out

Hit "B" while its on NTSC.

TV flickers a bit as LCD turns off; anytime I move the ext cable, it flickers. But no image :/

Thats all I'm supposed to do?

jeff

See below for a modded OutcaST..

Sounds like you got a bunk cable ... mine does the same thing ... sound works fine, but no video. It's really dissapointing too :(

Straight s-video, no adaptor. I got the first batch that GP32z got ... I'm sad :(

Nope, but my batteries were fully recharged.

I'm still sad :(

I'll keep buggering around, as Craig says this is a known good batch and hes a good fellah :)

Someone try this and let me know if it helps..

Its modded maybe to detect the TV/LCD and set things up.. maybe :) No bets it won't blow your TV either, but it heres to hoping it works.

If it does work, someone get me a picture of Xenon2 and Dungeon Master on their nice big 50" TV ;)

How old is your TV? TVs since the mid 90's had S-video. If yours has it try that. The quality is loads better with S-video anyway. If you don't have S-video maybe try it on a TV that has it. Maybe you have a dodgy adapter.

Im having thye same problem with the adapter I just bought from fishybawb. It's from Craig's batch, and im having the flickering too. As of now, the only adapter im using is a male-male for the 2 audio plugs, and Im planing on buying an extension for s video as I must struggle to plug it in behind my tv. Any ideas? im soooooooooooo frustrated!

I just bought a brand new TV a couple of weeks ago that ended up not having S-Video. <_<

Stupid Funai Corporation.

I'm hoping its just the SVideo->RCA adapters .. a very simple piece of wiring, but you never know. (SVideo is the same as composite, but with the two things on separate pin sinstead of merged.)

I'll be hitting a TV shop up tonight to pick up a DVD for something, so I'll see if I can find a TV with a front mount SVideo I can jack into and take over :)

Not trying to hijack the thread or anythin', but what's the quality like when it's piped to a television? Still good?

That's one of the things I've been consistently stoked about, can't wait to have enough money to buy a cable. :p

My TV out cable seems to be fine, but only works great for movies.
DrMD, SNES2X, MAME all have a distorted mirror image in the bottom half of the screen.
I will post pictures later. Moveis play perfectly. I am on 1.2.1 but had the same problem with 1.2.0. Squidge plays like you see in those pics here, only half of the screen is utilized but at least it is playable!!! I figured the problem was with the emulators, but it is more likely either the chip or firmware related.

I imagine software will improve; the firmware and the emus/etc will work it out over time. Seems like the half-screen-used is likely a small bug in the firmware, but that is easily managed by software.

Craig's going to sort me out, so no worries.

So far, GBAX and gp32z have always done me right :)
