USB 1.1 on main USB port

Would you use a USB 1.1 option if available?

Big surprise hidden in a Pyra thread:

The port both supports USB2.0 and 1.1 devices - but you can only select which one within the kernel.
But the Pandora port can do both 2.0 or 1.1, not just at the same time.

RiscOS, for example, sets it to 1.1. That's why a mouse or keyboard works without a hub on the Pandora there.
Wait... What?! Can this be made a feature of SuperZaxxon? I don't even mind if we need to reboot to change which USB version it runs, but it'd be nice to be able to plug a mouse or controller in without the need of a hub
Could this be done? Even if needing to reboot, it would make some things so much easier.

Actually I really doubt it. The OMAP3 supports it, the PHY chip supports it, however the pin configuration doesn't match when the PHY is switched to LowSpeed/FullSpeed mode, in other words they are incompatible for LS/FS operation. The other reason is that the PHY chip always starts in HighSpeed mode and needs to be switched to lower modes, but whenever OMAP3/DM37xx does that it locks up (dm3730 erratum 1.113).

RiscOS dev probably has some USB2.0 compatible mouse that ED said he got to work. Or maybe he was using a hub and wasn't aware that it's supposed to work that way.

Normal USB 2.0 operation is to attempt to talk to a newly plugged in device in High Speed mode, and when that fails try again in low/full speed mode.
