Ouch... Gradius is pretty basic as far has arcade hardware goes. Looks like Craig has his work cut out for him then.
Gradius had the first hardware scaling IIRC...twinbee runs on the same hardware.
Gauntlet on a GP32 tho is unlikely because of the resolution - it's not only odd, but it's too large. I think it's 512x512 (yes, a square). If you've ever seen it or any same period Atari game in action you'll probably remember the different monitor it had (medium resolution). That, and I think it's the Bally/Midway/Williams games like Tapper that had a similar resolution for sprites, and a very low resolution for backgrounds (like 128x128 or something?). Other than that...pretty much nothing is FORCED to (ie, vectors CAN be hi-res). Maybe Exidy shooting games, but...shooting games on a GP32?
Keep in mind a lot of games (I think Gradius is one of them, actually) have vertical monitors. Which is an absolute pain in the ass to rotate on a real cabinet. At least for me.
Just keep in mind some of the most basic seeming games aren't...I mean, Chack'n Pop STILL isn't emulated (unknown hardware?), Bubble Bobble took a good while (16-bit games like Gauntlet beat it to emulator release) and as I said, many shoot-em-ups have vertical gameplay. Which might be okay on a Lynx, but the GP32 isn't very vertical! Still might fit with borders tho.
EDIT: I now officially hate the quote command!
