let me start off by saying that im really new to the GP32 thing. :D

But one of my friends told me that you could put Windows on your GP32? Sounds kinda sketchy, is this true?

maybe he means windups, its a windows style file launcher, but have nothing to do with windows.

Its okay, it has filelaunching from custom desctops, its really just eyecandy.

Is it worth putting on my GP32 though lol?
(keep in mind I dont have my 32 yet lol)

Well , if u have a certain OS, it allows you to have 3 OSs

* Pacrom
*Windups
*Euro Firmware

What would an OS like Winups do for the GP? Im really new too, Im the friend tank was talking about. :)

Windups (and in fact all launchers mentioned here) are not OS's. They are just programs, and their main purpose is for launching files (think of them as your start menu or the icons on the desktop in windows).

The main ones are -

Windups - Looks like windows and uses a cursor. Contains other useful programs like a basic text editor. You can customise the background and icons. You have to create the icons manually on the desktop. Fxe's can be stored anywhere.

Pacrom - A file browser style. Also contains smc repair and format tools (very useful). Fxe's can be stored anywhere. Can launch most commercial software.

Original fw - Needs freelauncher installing to launch fxe's. Quite slow. Makes silly noises. Includes an mp3 player, but it's old and crap these days. Fxe's must be in the gpmm folder. Can launch commercial software.

Eurofw - Quite nice. Doesn't need freelaunch. I still find it slow to navigate when there are lots of apps installed (but it's not as bad as freelauncher). No mp3 player. Still makes a silly noise at the start. Fxe's must be in the gpmm folder. Can launch commercial software.

YAFL - Based on the palmos launcher. Apps can be placed into categories. Background, fonts, and icons can be customised. Comes with a silly little game. Fxe's must be in the gpmm folder.

So if I put this Windups on my GP, would it come up whenever i turned my GP on or would I have to load it as if i were playing a emulated game?

Would it just be easier to load my games and stuff without Windups? lol

Yes, unless you are willing to flash your fimware.
I guess a lot of people have flashed their firmware because they had the older Gameparks with the korean firmware. This firmware wouldn't play non-commercial games wihtout launching another file (freelauncher) first. To get rid of that extra step, and because Wind-ups, YAFL, Pacrom and others give you more control people changed their firmware.
After you flash your firmware your GP32 can start up in the 'OS' of your choice (well almost, depends on what type of firmware you use)
