I was thinking: Why is my Steam download so slow. And I realized I switched the network monitoring setting from Mbps to MB/s.

Still feels slow when downloading a 113GB update.

Only if you enable this setting, else it does no downloading while playing:

Writing to disk while decompressing the download could indeed impact your gameplay. Probably not at 1.5MB/s though.

For many years I had a 3~5MB/s connection (here you could not get faster lines at that time), apparently speed kept increasing over time when people slowly moved away from copper freeing up the line for me.
But 1.5MB/s is no joke, you still have to plan big downloads if you need them at a certain time. The move to digital-only games doesn't help with that either.

@TeDaDeS I, so far, only use Heroic against GOG. I don't think that system ever wanted to separate my gaming and my downloading.
They started fiber built-out in this little town here, but it hasn't reached me yet. Anytime between now and Jan. 2028 as far as I've been informed. Though, me being situated close to the town hall, I'm cautiously optimistic it rather being earlier.
