Psp Europe Launch Delayed For Months!!!!

This is SONY we're talking about here... who says the PSP will ever be bug free??? :p

Seriously though most major bugs were ironed out of the Japanese ones quite some time ago, I have another friend who just picked one up cheap recently, after hearing there was defiantely no region lock on the games... he says except for a few miniscule specs of dust trapped under the screen, he sees no problems at all with his. If you ever chat on IRC it seems this is the rule now with Japanese ones.

Last one I chatted in was #psp on EFnet, I believe. Be careful how you ask if you're just gonna go in and ask "hey does the PSP still have problems?" I've seen people get booted and banned for less... can be a testy bunch sometimes.

ah yeah efnet it is. i shoulda just tried that, seems so obvious!

lik-Sang £145. Available now

Amazon.co.uk £180 Available end of June (if we are lucky!).

It's kinda obvious, really....?

As if you'd trust the Amazon price, there is no price untill sony says what the official price is. They can speculate all they want.

If you're serious about getting a PSP, just import a Jap one.

It's cheap and easy.

Same region as Europe. American games confirmed to work on Jap machines. Jap UMD video in English as well (apparently) (but why you'd care about UMD video beggers belief)...and if they ever did region code stuff....go buy a new one in some pleb shop like Argos and exchange it (this goes for warranty issues as well).

The End.

this is what I keep saying... but it seems no matter how many of us can sit here talkin sense to people no one wants to listen.

Its because this stupid thing called import tax that puts people off it ;)

If you get charged Import Tax then it will end up costing more than the Amazon price , PLUS if you get a fault with it, it will be easier to send back to Amazon in England rather than asia :p

If you realy want one, just pay the extra and get one from GBAX so you dont need to worry about Import Tax and you can send it back to someone who lives in the UK if you get a problem :)

you've got me thinking now.

all in its £210 for a PSP to arrive at my door next week from gbax or £155 if no customs is charged. i'd have the ebay seller check the psp had no dead pixels before it was sent, but if i get a 30% import tax and vat its twenty quid more than gbax and as you said, no warranty.

i'm usually a very lucky person, but thanks to you steve-o i'm now doubting myself.

damn you!

GBAX is always a good option, they should be plentiful enough now. Ebay is good, not sure what prices are like there now. Good luck getting ebay sellers to check them for lit pixels... I couldn't get anyone to, all they would say is that the systems are unopened and they dont want to open them to check, especially since it is very easy to leave smudges on the system, it woudln't be 'new in box' anymore.

Anyways, I've said this before, and trust me guys I am SUPER picky about this kinda stuff, but really, if you DO end up getting 1 or 2 lit pixels on your PSP, I swear you will almost never notice them, they are SOOOO SO tiny... as small as a spec of dust... put it this way, if one lit pixel is going to bother you that much, don't even get a PSP, because one thing ALL PSP's HAVE SO FAR is dust trapped under the screen, EVERY SINGLE ONE has had this, and if a lit pixel is going to bother you, than even if you dont get a lit pixel that dust will probably bother you just as much... the pixels are so small they are really that comparable.

With the lit pixels, you ONLY can see them on VERY dark or plain black backgrounds... the only time I ever noticed mine was at the loading screens, once the game starts up you just wont see it anymore. Same with the dust trapped under the screen.

Anyways... if you're that worried about 1 or 2 lit pixels (and again, the 'word on the street' is that recent systems dont even have these any more), then yeah, pay the extra and get from GBAX (if you live in the UK). But I'd personally rather pay less and get it from Ebay... then again... if you get nailed for the tax... (the one I sold to someone in the UK did)

I guess it's just better to get it from GBAX afterall :D

Did you get dust under your screen? thats unfortunate, my Jap one was perfect, but had 2 lit pixels, which as you said you can barely see.

of 5 PSP's I have held up close and played with (2 of my own, 3 friends') every - single - one of them has had some specs of dust under the screen. This is a very wide complaint, if not EVERYONE has this problem, than most people do.

I bet $20 you do have some, maybe you're just not looking hard enough? Put it under a bright light (or take it outside on a sunny day) and look close, I SERIOUSLY doubt that your's doesn't at least have one spec in there.

but if you do, taht just goes to show, that you really dont notice that either, unless you're like me and super picky about everything.

From what I could see up close when I had it, (I sold it and sent it off today) it had no dust. I guess I was really lucky. I'd prefer dust to lit pixels though, as you can always take the PSP apart and get rid of the dust, well once your warranty runs out anyway :D

Not exactly.

Well you can, but 1) they really, REALLY screw them together TIGHT. I can't emphasize this enough... you will have a major pain to get the screws loose, and 2) there is a foam seal around the LCD, between the LCD and the faceplate of the system. This foam seal is attached with some strong adhesive, and wont simply peel off. You will have to pry the front cover loose, and in doing so, will very likely damage or completely ruin the seal. It's this seal that keeps additional dust from getting into your system by the way.

There was an article at Lik Sang when the PSP first came out in Japan, where they actualyl took one apart and took lots of pics. In those pics, you can get a few really good looks at the seal that I'm talking about, and can also see how badly they trashed it on their unit.

I wouldn't want to take MINE apart, that's for sure.

I see  I hadn't actually tried, but thought it wouldn't be too much harder than the GP32. Oh well, good to hear the console is held together very tightly, I'll seeif my US one has any pixel or dust problems......

4, if you reserved it at Gamestop and don't mind being there at midnight to pick it up. okay okay so midnight is technically the next day but I dont consider that way. So basically it releases Wednesday night, as far as I'm concerned.

yo, gamestop insider, know anything about the 2nd shipment date? i'm hoping it's around the same time...
why am i even gettting my hopes up :p it's not 5 more days for me!!
