I've debugged a long standing issue with my pacman sound system that prevented me from putting sound into XCade.. but got it fixed up today and can here some not too bad sound out of pacman and friends (MsPac, etc).

I should have an XCade ready for testing soon..

(not sound for all XCade games, just for the Pac series, including Hanglyman, etc)

Sounds great (pun intended) Skeezix. :)

I must be honest, I haven't tried Xcade before. Do the vertical games get rotated? Because the Pacman games would be great rotated vertically (like Arcano) and using the joystick in that orientation. Or does it scale the 288 lines into 240 etc. in a horizontal orientation? Or just cut parts on top and bottom off?

Thanks.

that's great news!!

do you think we'll ever see support for such games as jr. pac man and gaplus in this emulator?

It just clips them :)

I've considered a rotated version, but I'm very tight on time these days :/

Its possible but not too likely; working out the multi-processor trickery is rather a pain, and I'm just crimped right now. Need to focus on my apps which pay the bills for a bit ;)

I'm intending on working through the simple 8bitters first.. I miss them the most ;) Mario Brothers, etc. I have been working on SEGA System 16 of late though.. got Shinobi pseudo-working (the goal for me being Shinobi and Quartet).

We'll see :)

Shinobi? Awesome! That's one of the ones I could play legally in MAME, too. Check out the middle cabinet. That's my garage.

I'm working on one too, ever so slowly. Do all this crap while you're young; that way, stuff like work, wives, kids, and real life doesn't get in the way so much. :)

I bought those cabinets at an auction because I was wanting to build an arcade for my son (who's not even 2 years old yet, but he'll enjoy it someday). While searching around for other cabs I found some sites on MAME cabinets. So while I'm definitely working on my MAME cab now, I'm debating on whether or not to keep the Shinobi and Bucky O'Hare cabs I bought, or sell them.

I also have a Bloxeed cab, with a bad monitor, which is donating its cabinet to my MAME machine. I may end up selling the PCB on eBay after that.

it's nice that you're still working away on xcade, jeff... it turns out that this weekend has been not too bad for updates in the end!! What with this, fsms32 and the new version of gbvgb.... hmmmmm

It would be great if you did manage to get verticale rotation going, unfortunately I don't play pacman due to the clipping (have you ever tried to escape ghosts when you can't see them!!?? ;) ). But it's great that you've not forgotten it!!

System 16 emu would really rock, I think it isn't too hard to do (says the non coder). There was one released for the dreamcast which was pretty good, the only problem I remember was the FM sound was a bit dodgy. It would be great if you got Shinobi, Quartet, Golden Axe, Altered Beast AND Dynamite Dux working!! hehe...

XCade is the reason I bought a GP32, arcade games on the move is a great idea, and it also allows my dear old mom to play pacman, her favorite, wait until she plays it with sound... great work keep it up.

Oh yeah and on the mame front I have both a JAMMA cab abd a MAME shell in my garage too.
