The reason theres no xbox emulator is that it uses encryption along with a custom windows and directx, its as compliacted as the development of WINEhq.org because you have to rewrite everything.
Ah, but there is an xbox emulator available. It's not finished, but it does run some xbox software www.ngemu.com

Well if a company goes out of business then hell that must mean all their software is free to take! All right! I guess by that logic too, if a car dealership goes out of business, it's free cars for everybody!

Yeah but you still need someone to make the cars, but a how easy is a rom to copy. if its legal then do it.

All I have to say is this.... I am NOT going to track down a working amiga ST to play games for it.... IF I CAN FIND games for it, and I am not going to attempt to import bahamut lagoon, tales of phantasia, or buy chrono trigger for SNES.... and good luck finding starfox2  Emulation is a great thing in my eyes...

NO ONE ever codes emus thinking *hehehe I can rip off companies!* they code it thinking * Man i'm going to be helping classic gamers everywhere* and they are great for that, emulators have allowed me to relive the glory days of the SNES, NES, Genesis, and play games that were never officially translated in english! (Tales of phantasia, bahamut lagoon, wonder project J) Or games never released! (starfox 2) Emulation is the best thing to happen to gaming since the SNES in my eyes.

Absolutly! Without emulation, only a small number of people could play C64 etc. games nowadays. And don't forget: Every computer will break sometimes and you can not repair everything. So someday there will be no working C64, Master System, Amiga or XBox left. Without Emulation, all those great games will be lost

Dont do emulation cos emulation is bad, and you know doing bad is bad so dont do emulation cos emulation is bad, so dont be bad, dont do emulation cos its bad!!!

Didn't we just have this discussion 2 weeks ago? I believe at the time it was "Pirating: is it good or bad?", but running roms of games you don't own is technically piracy.

Whatever. I'm staying out of it, just like I did last time.

Well, it's a relative topic to piracy, but not exactly the same topic. But, chip, discussions like these are the black holes of the Internet: you get anywhere near close and you're already stuck in it with no chance of escape.

WTF is with you people. There is nothing wrong with emulation at all. If emulation didnt exist, you wouldnt know what the hell a gp32 is. Most emulation is illegal, but that doesnt make it wrong. How many bullshit computer laws are there now about copying shit, I doubt you can copy a text file without getting arrested anymore.

(Legal disclaimer: None of the above things I said apply to me)

This could end up going "flame" if we don't watch out :p

Has anyone read the new version of the article?

It is far improved on the original one, so you may want to check it out
