We will see if there is a "catch" eventually. If there is a catch I would bet the the frame skip would be high. Who knows though we shall see.

The button config on the GP2X is perfect for Robotron with the 4 button arrangement.

If Franxis ports his too expect good speed with sound low FS on older games.

Sheesh, the 'catch' is it's a big wide open expanse of fertile ground for any number of people to port old arcade games that interest them. The newer stuff will take a lot of work but old stuff like space invaders should be relatively simple. MAME is very nicely written in some ways so it could be a good project for someone new to porting or to the gp2x. My patch might help get people started or at least show them what not to do :) I'm not about to set to work on several thousand games myself so I'm sharing as I go along.

LOL. Sorry, my humour doesn't translate too well on BBoards :)

Good job snaff. I can't wait to get started on my favourites (although defender is one of my all time favourites - so you beat me too it). Just need my Gp2x to arrive first. A couple of others that I want (although I suspect I will be beaten to it by other devs who have their gp2x's) are pacman, galaxian, tron and Pengo.

(thats if my day job - writing embedded 'c' apps - doesn't eat any more time than it already does :( )

Plus Donkey kong series, Zaxxon, Galaga, Ms Pac-Man etc. Hopefully with the GP2X full sound is possible for the ones that didn't have it on the GP32 MAME.

Is it possible to do vertically oriented games (Donkey Kong etc) in portrait mode so that there is no cropping and program the volume control buttons as jump etc?

Good work Snaff, nice to see you're making such quick progress. Personally I'd be happy with an emulator that just played the old Williams games. Such great fun. I'd probably lose my sanity after a couple of hours and several thousand credits, though...
