SO! is the firmware safe 2 use now? What does it do? and Will GBAX send me another 1 if it bricks my unit?????  I'm scared I'm kinda young to be doing this stuff (considering from my pint of view) and I've already spent $350 on my unit ( :( why god why :( ) So should I up or not?

Scared and curious

Joeeoh

P.S. forget the what does it do part woops

If you screw up ur unit without opening it then you can return it, if not then ur outta luck

Anyways when I get mine.. Hopefully tommorrow, or sometime this weekend then im not too sure if im going to update the firmware or not unless I can find some extremely detailed instructions on how to do it correctly. ^.^

The new firmware is great! It does essential things such as turning your red led off permanently. and umm.. some other less important stuff too :)
But what I've heard is that it's horrible\

P.S. Mr. Andersen if u havent seen my thread I'd like 2 report a bug with ur skin when I applyed it I could not run games or music

Sounds to me like the new FW isn't needed at all (ie: "worth the risk" ;)

jeff

Ya its decided... im going to stick with untill there is one thats more usefull than turning off the little Light bulb that shows the power ^.^

Also i heard that the 1.0.1 FW screws up the media player and most ppl downgrade after that

It only does that if you apply the media player patch without properly upgrading the firmware first. Remember there are two things: the actual firmware and the application patches. Both have to be installed, with the firmware being applied first.

BTW Drak: Your sigs are still way too big. Screen size wise.

An update should be out later this month for the battery, and SD card support (i think > 2gb will be in it).

This was said by codeninja, when he translated the korean site.
Wait when U say battery do u mean it will fix the overusage of battery power problem (there may be a god after all !)

TV-Out leak, Full Speed on CPU's and battery light.
Those are the ones I know of.

Im thinking that when I get mine (xmass) im probably going to hold out until the firmware is tested by some fellow users. I know its not good for the community, because testing makes everything better in the end, but who really wants a brick?

Yeah, that's because I implemented a trojan horse that would infiltrate your firmware and render movie files useless. Also Music files such as ogg and mp3 are useless after you install my skin, and best of all, your gp2x will destroy the SD Card after 1 week since you first installed my skin. Have a nice day :D

ps: warned ya: BETA BETA BETA!!!!!

-actually I am joking, skins don't change anything but the look of something, at least mine does not:) Besides: you're the first one to report such a thing

From gp32z.com:

Next batch of Gp2x units and tv-out cables will arrive in 1-2 weeks which will have the latest firmware allowing for 2gb support and USB connection fixes. Many hardware problems have been resolved in this production run as well.

It sound like the firmware might be done already, or in 1-2 weeks.
