Damnit, I was fiddling with my TV-out again this weekend and now out of the blue a few people asked me about progress, so I think its going to drive my bonkers .. so maybe time to nab another unit and see :p (the TV-out in my 2x is shot I think, never once get anythign useful out of it :p)

I'm hoping to pop out new builds of my apps soon, so might as well get them all fresh and sparkly first..

jr2 still in the game? or should I just go after poor ol' Craig who I'm already indebted to for a TV-out cable :)

Hmm, I wonder how much over-night shipping would cost from the UK to Canada.. eep :)

jeff

^--- one of those moods .. damnit, where can I just go buy one in the shop across the road?!

Heh, with all the new people around here, you're lucky there's still a few that know who you're talking about.

For those of you who don't know, Jr2Swiss is the gp32x.de forum name for David, the owner of GP32z.com.

And yes, he's still in the game.

Anyone ordered from gamesection in Monteal? I would prefer to avoid that drive (15-hour round trip I bet, plus rush-hour around Montreal is hell!) .. but getting UPS to rush a shipment from there should be pretty cheap :)

They a reliable bunch?

I ordered my MK2 from them on a Tuesday evening via their cheapest FedEx option, and Friday morning it was here, in good old Toronto :) They also have a 1-2 business day option, but shipping costs 4x more.

Yes, I bought from Gamersection.ca Very good bunch of folks there. I've also purchased a few GP2X peripherals from them afterwords. Highly recommended.

Yah that right Alex ordered from them and pay half the price of the console in taxes and shipping ahahaha ;-). It might get cheaper if you order from oversea or the US, just depend if your lucky with the customs or not ;-). I remembered once to have paid more than half the price of a book because of some stupid brokerage fees crap!

Either you pay $189 US (gamersection price) + Taxes (I dunno if they charge both GST & PST, I know for me it will since I live around Montreal) which will add 7% to 14.5% + Shipping.
If you order from let say Lik-Sang at $179 US + Shipping + 0% to XX% (depending if you have to pay some custom fees). I know when I received my GP32 from them they declared it as a game accessories of a value of 3$-4$ ;-).

Rush hour around Montreal? Yah sometime it can be hell depend around which time and also which highway. But they are on the west island area of Montreal (Kirkland) so you wont have to cross all Montreal, so it should be fine since the traffic start to get really worst around where the 20 connect to the 13 (people coming down from the north of Montreal like Laval, Deux Montagnes, etc...). And hey if you want to drive down Montreal now you will be able to go enjoy the Jazz festival (you just miss the F1 grand prix from last week-end ;-)).

I don't know if you have to pay PST on stuff you have shipped in from out-of-province. I never have to pay PST though. B)

It depend if the stores have some office located in that province. Like when I ordered from FutureShop I had to pay both taxes. But since gamersection seems to only have office in Montreal then people should only pay the GST if they dont live in Quebec. But me ill have to since I live around Montreal 8-(.

You guys just ordered on their website, or did you phone them up?

I'm tempted while at office right now to just click through and do the order and see if it arrives by Friday like you had occur; having no border is very attractive .. quite often stuff from theUS gets held up 1 day, to sometiems a week.. if it gets held for a few days, there will be a 30-50 breokerage fee on top which makes Baby Crom Cry :/

So paying $189USD (ouch!) plus 15% tax (ouch!) == about $250CDN all told plus shipping ...

.. just so I can get TV out :p (which admittedly I would likely not use much, but just want to see it.. and of course make all you guys smiley :p)

jeff

When you're using TV-out, does it play audio through TV only, or both 2x and TV?

Audio is played through both the GP2X and the TV.

When you use TV-out do you have the cable plugged in when you start your GP2X? For mine to work it has to be plugged in before I switch on. Also is your TV S-Video compatible or are you using some sort of S-Video to Scart converter?

SCART is eu only I think.. we dont' have it here (Canada); I'm using SVideo to composite (component) adapter, but I've also tried a true SVideo TV. The best I get is flicker on the display when I jiggle the cable around :p
