How many more final fantasy games will they be bringing out, now we are going the way of software versions with Final Fantasy X-2.

So, what will it be next?? FF 10.3.465 - alpha 3 - beta 27.....

Leave it, enough is enough.

Ps, sorry if you like the ff series, but it's getting on my tits.

OMG!! they're now making a FF 12 different from the rest. . . amazing gfx and wierd characters (the main guy looks like a girl) no way am i gonna get that (couldnt beat X :( ) but FF XI looks cool, an MMORPG

I'm still working on part 8. every year or so i start again and try to beat the game but i never get relly past the hotel assasin deal, oh i dunno. i dont care about them making so many but please not so fast.

FFX-2? The main guy IS a girl. All 3 main characters are girls.

FFX-2 is simply a sequel to FFX, not FFXII. FF has a long game legacy, they use Roman numerals to chronicate them. I doubt they'll use software versions to signify what FF title they are currently releasing.

How come this is being brought up now? I've seen the commercials for this game months ago. I've known about this game for about 6 months now.

If you didn't notice, FF series go in this order starting with FF1 & FF2. It's even been agknowledged by Squaresoft themselves that they try to keep to this order.

Better Gameplay
Better Story

FF1 - New Gameplay, barely any story.
FF2 - Great story, convoluted gameplay design (easily exploitable even)
FF3 - New Gameplay (Job System), barely any story.
FF4 - Great story (though much was lost in translation), OK gameplay design.
FF5 - New Gameplay (Job System revamped), barely any real story.
FF6 - Great story, some consider the best so far, OK gameplay design
FF7 - New Gameplay (3D, new system), also invented new standard: eyecandy
FF8 - Better eyecandy, better story, bad gameplay
FF9 - Excellent gameplay with a lot of oldschool references, OK eyecandy
FF10 - Good story, better eyecandy, OK gameplay
FF10-2 - New gameplay (Job System reborn as Dress System), OK story, borrows heavily from FF10
FF11 - Online game, good backstory with the ability to choose your own destiny

This is one of the reasons they named it FF10-2 and not FF12. I actually think this is a great system. This allows the various departments (design, programming, and art) all very much needed slack on certain projects, and allows them to do two projects at once much more effeciently (usually one project is started before another is finished).

What I do find odd is that fanboys across the nation are quoting FF10-2 as the end of Squaresoft because it shares elements with a previous FF game, yet Capcom has been releasing Megaman titles up to 9, each with the EXACT same format and sometimes sharing a lot of sprites (especially Megaman himself)! I never heard ANY complaining from those fans...

BTW:
Square also announced quite a while ago that they'll never make another subgame for a Final Fantasy again...

I don't know why, I actually liked FFX-2...

And, if you weren't already mad enough, you be happy to know that it has degraded into a mere fashion show with all the girls outfits and whatnot. Not to mention half of the cutscenes I have seen have Yuna performing on stage. At least Crystal Chronicles was awesome...... if you felt like dishing out big bucks to get all your gameboys, the game, and four GC-GBA link cables (which my friends and I did).

I think these fanboys just hate playing a game where the only main characters are all females. Probably because they never met one in real life.

But still, sometimes when you mess with an organized system, you get bit in the ass. Making a seperate game that is an actual sequel to a previous title went against the system they had, so it's out of the norm from Square to have done such a thing. But hey, as long as they keep going on with making great playing and great looking RPGs, they'll stay around. I don't know, I'm, actually worried about what's coming around from them as far as RPG storylines and gameplay go, they seem to be pretty weak. I haven't found any FF interesting since 7.

Hey, I meet plenty of females...... OK...... so maybe... that's a lie. I mean..... *sniffling*... I can't help it if.... *crying*.... I'm not a..... *sniffling*... big jock like all those *bawling*... other guys. Oh, well back to another sorrowful night of crying myself to sleep. Thanks a lot NssOne.

Don't worry, when you grow up to be a computer nerd with lots of money, you'll be able to afford all the hookers you want.

ok a couple things,
Software version of FFX-2? hello, ALL THE GAMES ARE SOFTWARE, There are no hardware versions, or mystical plasmatic vesions hanging around in the air!

FFX-2 = All it was, was the attempt at getting guys to lok at chicks, but fuck, petite bitches dun make it well, now LuLu in a revealing outfit, or having the 17year old Rikku be better developed, now that is good marketing ;D, but no, bah japanese and their petit chicks, i'll never understand them well

FFXII = Takes place in the land of Ivalice, supposivly it is the game that is refered to in FFTA at the begning when Marche and gang get transported into their own little world of Final Fantasy. Being different than any other final fantasy, well, thats just common sense.
Note: People may confuse it for FFXI or somthing due to the character and graphical engines for FFXI where used in FFXII *although there are different races, the same engine was used basically fromt eh looks of it*

FFVII:AC = Advent children looks great, If it doesn't have Tifa in it i'll be fucking pissed, but hell it's fucking cool
Note: It may look like the kickass Cinimatic scene from FFXI, because same engine they used prolly

*side note: FFVIII sucked so much ass, if i had an enima, it 'd prolly feel good compaired to FFVIII*
Side Note2:FFVI is the best FF game, although FFIV is kinda cool too

I'll never forgive them for not releasing Secret of Mana 2 in the West. For that matter any of the SNES FF series as well (in the UK at least). Just as well I can play the translated versions on my GP....

Just one note for all who don't know:
That's a movie, not a game :)

Yeah, and it will hopefully be better than The Spirits Within. It would've been decent if only Square wasn't trying to make it look like it was another FF title. All it was was that they used all the same people who did cinematics for their games.
