Is there a decent one around wth full speed and sound support? I've only seen either full speed and no sound, or sound and sluggish emulation.

If not, looks like it's going to be my next project, as I've got the urge to play large amounts of Sonic...

aye good luck , if your going to take it on mate.

By the way, the gp32 i brought off you is working brilliantly, cheers!

How come some people differentiate between Megadrive and Genesis when they are both the same thing? (Genesis simply being the US version of the Megadrive?)

Unless the US Genesis version IS different to the UK Megadrive ?

very exciting.....

GPdrive and the BOR port are amazing. Would be extra cool if Squidge worked on a Genesis Emu.

Good work Squidge! :)

there are only 2, genemu and fgen32.
fgen32 is the better choose (christmas beta) becuase you can select clock speed and frameskip, while genemu always runs at fs 0, which is quite slow (but faster than fgen32 on fs 0).
both no sound or save.

so, it would be great if you would try to make a new emu !!
(btw it would also be great if you could make an option in bor at the beginning to select the pak you want to load so we do not have to rename the paks all the time, just an idea)

I think Loridan is porting Generator (?) also kotd mentioned something about porting a genesis emulator(??) as well.

I think get in contact with them, or start your own (you've got the talent  )

Also there is an open source sonic that is really good. There was a link on the old BOR site :)

Thanks. I need to play with my hacked up 68k core, so a md/genesis emu seems to be the best thing to play with first, before trying to use it for other more complicated things (like Neogeo stuff, etc).

For this reason, I'd rather write a emu from scratch, rathing than porting.

GP32 + sonic & knuckles linked up with sonic 3 + 2 hours train voyage + me = happy man :)

Right now, I have been going through tons of generator code. I have been pointed to where someone abandoned the same project. I have written emails to the author to attempt to compare his code with the original and complete my understanding of porting generator. If I can get enough information together it will be a lot easier for me to do this project. I wish the author of generator had been a little more c++ oriented and class happy, Im bully for some abstraction. But some people like to stick with basic C. I thought originally I could simply make my own object for display and plug it in. As it turns out I have to create a header file that refers to another header file that refers to... oh hell... you get the idea... And the author of generator, that states on his webpage that he can explain how to port properly... Is not responding to emails...

//Loridan stares eyes bleeding for hours at the generator knot//

plays sonic 1 at about 75% of speed without sound, wasn't supposed to be released but was released anyway or something... it's not much but it's something :)

I say if Squidge can pull off a good Genesis emu we donate to him. I suggest we do that AFTER something useable is released though. I am not saying he would do this but there are too many half finished abandoned emus out there. Donations give incentive and also reward the coders for a job well done.

I would donate for this, what do you think? Donations after release?

Thanks craig. I've looked at it before, and although it's unfinished and some instructions are buggy, it's certainly a nice start at an asm-level 68k emu.

I'll most likely be starting (or rather, playing) Saturday some time. I wouldn't expect anything soon though, as, like I say, this will be more of a new emu than a port.
