I want to get one but only for first party titles.
PC games are simply so much cheaper than Switch games.

The amount of ports suggests that the switch 2 is developer friendly. Since game prices have gotten out of hand it's time for indie games to shine.

I actually like (some) ports.
Somehow Nintendo got a label for not having populair titles available on their platform and mostly promote their own (sometimes child friendly) games.
I think that might be left from the Wii era.
Having all games, including last generation titles, available on the Switch platform is great. It enables people to completely 'switch' platforms instead of opting to use a PlayStation for those titles.
I think having the latest GTA or CoD on the Switch would be such a reason.

My only worry is the less strict physical games policy, so a cartridge might become a fancy license key for a digital game.

Well i did allready Preeordered via Mediamarkt, Pickup on the Market, its fits whit my Worktimes as its get Released on an Thursday
From the new Games i would take Mario Kart in the Bundle whit the Switch2, later Street Fighter 6, and maybe Elden Ring, i have still a huge Switch1 Backlog

I got the Switch1 back then also whit me when i was on Tour for a few Days, but the Switch2 gets only around the House, i get end of this month hopefully an Retroid Flip2 which gets my Pockethandheld

Nintendo were always family oriented. Fun for everyone. Inclusive. Their games have a very specific aesthetic which was first obvious to me on SNES.

I intend to only buy 1st party & cutesy family games on switch 2 and I'm deleting the cute games on my playstations. For vibes sake.

@matzesu is addicted to the smell of new electronics you get when opening the box the first time.

I took the plunge and pre-ordered, but how come it doesn't let me pay in full/100% in one of the stores I pre-ordered at?

Anyway, I only ended up pre-ordering x 2 Nintendo Switch 2 consoles (one from EB Games and one from JB Hi-Fi). I didn't want to be greedy

I wanna hold back until Black Friday. Not that I couldn't give them what they want, but come on.

What I still wanna know most is, will it support mouse and keyboard in shooters or rather in general. I know, JoyCon-mouse, but I very much dislike JoyCons. To me they're unergonomic. But if they're meant to enable support for mouse'n'kb gameplay, I'm all for it. Iff they're meant to appease those crying for mouse support with just those JoyCons and that's supposed to be the end of it, FU Nintendo. Well, at least they'd earn their name even more so then - a con indeed.

It's going to be ages for the switch 2 to be jailbroken.
Surely nintendo learned their lessons, right?

The switch only has homebrew because of exploitable cpu flaws

Probaby. Maybe someone can fake the key cards or use that Switch 1 flashcard to exploit the emulator.

Anyways, I would even get a modchip. No chance I'll pay so much for a locked device.

I received a Switch 2 and tried "transferring" or copying my local Switch 1 accounts and save-games to the Switch 2.
But apparently you can only do these kind of things using user accounts linked to a Nintendo-account, which I don't have or want.
So, guess that story stops there.

On the Switch 1 you had the option to transfer any account to a different Switch. But this option was removed on the Switch 2.
I assume to prevent piracy or something, like sharing a local users save-game and probably to push more online subscription services.

So, if you have a Switch 1 without a Nintendo-account: you need an account to transfer your user (+save-games) to the Switch 2.
It also appears you cannot transfer a user from a Switch 2 -> Switch 2. I assume you need to login and use cloud-saves for that instead.
Note: So, this means you cannot copy a user after you started using your Switch 2. Transfer is only available during the Switch 2 setup.

First impression of the Switch 2. The screen is much larger, obviously, and brighter. The controls stick well, they're magnetic now, otherwise feel similar. The unit looked more slim.
The GUI is similar to the Switch 1, so experience-wise you feel right at home when switch-ing from Switch 1 -> Switch 2.
And having two USB-C ports is nice, but I still used the one on the bottom as usual.
