A Stranger In The Fog Knocks On Craig's Door

I suppose a weight difference of 15-20g would be pretty hard to detect once you're over 300g. The lighter feel of the Pandora could be due to better balance. Nice to hear either way.
Plus this is a pre production unit, so the weight may fluctuate a little.

The DSi LL felt noticably heavier though.

Maybe Craig harvested some of the Pandoras "organs" and sold them to Sony or Nintendo.. They'll need all the help they can get once the Pandora has been released!
Or maybe:
ChopShopPandora! No Wifi, No BT, no GPU - but you'll get a good price!

Once upon a midnight dreary, while Craig pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious system of forgotten lore,
While he nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
<.....snip.......>
Tell me what the lordly name is on the Night's Pandorian shore."
"FFS," quoth x68, "open the door."

Thanks for the poem. It is bloody excellent and damn witty! Brought a smile to my face and somehow makes Craig to look like a much more loveable guy. :)

The 'states are too big. It would take me probably more than 5 hours of driving to go to the nearest contributer here.
I fortunately live 3-4 minutes away from Craig :D

I have a decent camera. (720p digital video camera with manual zooming - woot!)

It's too bad I live about 7500km away from Craig. :(

Thanks, x68, but what was the weight (which one could you spend more time with without feeling the weight of the system?) and overall feel (comfort and bulkiness) like between Pandora and the NDSi LL?

EDIT: Sorry, already answered in the previous page and above, I see.

thanks for the review...

...the pandora was not so heavy because the prototype case was made of balsa wood :p

Firstly, thanks for the review and effort, but:

What took you so long? I'd be having frequent drinks with him if I lived that close.

I wish we went with the DSi's LL style of silk screening. With labels below screen

I can't say I'm too worried about the silk-screening either way, but I do wish the Pandora had a camera installed like the DSi in that photograph. I've said this before; but seeing this latest comparison generated a slight, renewed pang of remorse, although I really shouldn't complain as everything else is looking excellent... :p

Still, I might be able to hack said camera in somehow, or at least advocate for its integration in a Pandora 2 should that ever happen... :D

You know, I was wondering just this morning if you had been to Craig's to see it yet. Thanks for the review, man! I'd go if I was less than the 5 hours drive away that I am, 10 hours travel seems excessive even for this, he'd have to put me up for the night.

I'm not sure Craig's girlfriend would approve :p

I also wish for a camera in Pandora 2, too useful not to include if you ask me. Would be perfect for all the bloggers out there as well, camera and a keyboard.

Thanks x for the review!

I assume you did not tryout the video capability.
If you plan to visit again, can you bring a movie with you and try it out to see if the viewing is as good as we hope?

Also, did you try out the hinges and what are your thoughts on them? Did you played the emulators with it fully opened?

Thanks for that x68000.

Did you find the device heavy to hold while typing? It is 330g so i'm wondering what you or anyone else thought of the weight while using it for extended periods of time.
Comparing it to the DSi LL which i brought with me, it is noticably lighter. I cannot imagine anyone having an issue with the weight.

Apparently the Dsi LL is 314g (wikipedia)... I don't know the exact weight of the Pandora with the latest case but we were always told 330g.

It's the Hope! The Hope makes the Pandora feel lighter! ;)

EDIT: x68000, what N64 roms did you try?

so is craig as much of a dork as he is in the videos, the interview w/ ED a while back made mention of ED's personality being that of a super nice person as he is in the forums....

so was craig a drunken crazy person like he appears in the forums? ;)

Over many a quaint and curious system of forgotten lore,
While he nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of someone gently rapping, rapping at his chamber door.
" 'Tis some visitor," he muttered, "tapping at my chamber door;
Only this, and nothing more."

Ah, distinctly he remembers, was the month after December,
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.
Eagerly he wished the morrow; time that China sought to borrow
From his patience and his sorrow, sorrow for the late Pandor'.
For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Pandor',
Shipless here forevermore.

Then this geezah stood beguiling his sad fancy into smiling,
By the grave and stern decorum of the DSi he bore,
"Though thy crest be shorn and shaven thou," Craig said, "art sure no craven,
Ghastly, grim, and ancient geezah, wandering from the nightly shore.
Tell me what the lordly name is on the Night's Pandorian shore."
"FFS," quoth x68, "open the door."

ROFL! Gruso when i go to australia, we obviously need to have a beer or 10

I'm wondering if anybody has put a production unit on the scale, or if the 330g number was coming from a prototype or guesstimate or something? If the production unit hasn't been measured, it might be worth popping it on a scale and updating that number.

There once was a man named Craig
who was exceedingly vague
He proclaimed: "It will be shipped!"
then after a gallon of vodka he flipped
and after an eon of waiting, everyone died from the Plague
