Battery Test - Test Your Batteries Life


Actually maybe sound would be a good idea on the second core. PicoDrive uses the 940T for sound, so it would be interesting to see the effect on the battery life of this.

Maybe a constantly looping MP3 played on the second core with the option to mute.

Actually I just tested at 260 MHz again and the Incas are pulling 3:50:00 They mustn't have charged properly before the first test.

I am very impressed with this new result.

Energizer 2500mAh NiMH 3-Cells (unknown vintage, bundled with used ebay GP2X)

The plan is to test it on an overclock and see if it makes a better showing when overclocked. The trouble with testing 3 Cells is the longer test runs required. Not that I am complaining mind you ;).

Not too shabby, close to 6 hours at 250mhz, PicoDrive CD here I come!

With a slow charger like that you should get around 5 hours, I think, seeing that its a fine pair of batteries...

according to your posts I have edited the 200MHz entries at Batteries gp2x wiki page http://wiki.gp2x.org/wiki/Batteries. please if anyone is still reading this thread, go there and double-check - if you are not willing to register to wiki and do the corrections yourself you can just write here and i will add the missing data (charger, gp2x model, firmware) for you.

Im finally getting round to testing out these crappy old 1800mah batteries now. They seem to crash in GPsp after less than an hour at 200mhz! But that is with the craigix ram timings though, wonder if that somehow effects them. Strange as testing at 275mhz its currently been going for 22mins and its still going. If they crash at 60mins at 200mhz i'd expect a crash in less than 10 mins at 275mhz.

Edit: just crashed at 37 mins, but my GP2x is really hot, and the lines on th escreen havent gone white, and thus its a OC crash. Damn thing lol, seems like the temp has got too hot for the batteries to sustain the OC drain or for the GP2x CPU to hand that overclock anymore.

I am wondering if I can add the time for my batteries to the wiki list after I finish with the 270Mhz test today or does someone reading this thread doing it for here. Maybe I haven't added something to a wiki and can't something yet or maybe I need to make an account but I'll try again soon.

Ive been running this application to test normal non-rechargeable batteries.

Im currently running some Philips R6/UM3 Zinc Carbon Longlife batteries.

My unit seems to have locked up / frozen at 11 minutes

Do i leave it running?

At writing this message, the graphics on the screen have gone corrupted and the blue power light is flashing really bad.

Do i just leave the GP2X F-200 until it turns itself off?

Any time you see "Zinc Carbon" or the package says "Heavy Duty" but it doesn't also say alakaline, run far far far away, those are cheap, junk batteries that are somehow still being foisted on unsuspecting customers.

Even if you'd gotten an alkaline battery, you would have had the same results because what the GP2X fails to mention in the crappy manual is that you need NiMh recharchable batteries. non-NiMh batteries are completely incapable of providing the necessary current and shut down way before they ought to.

It should be noted lithium photo batteries would also work but damn that's like burning $100 bills to play a day's worth of tetris.

PS: turn the darned thing off
