Charging the pyra

Hello ! I've literally just received my pyra :) and apart from going through the setup procedure the first thing I decided to (after doing that) was to give the pyra a charge; the battery was getting a bit low on just 27%

I used a normal usb charger similar to this one and the first time I tried to chage the pyra the charger was saying that the current draw was around 2.7A - ! I immediately disconnected the pyra apon seeing this.

A bit worrying though since the port I'm using (the micro usb3/otg port) only supports up to 2.5A . I tried it again later on and it is now drawing around 1.7A . The battery does seem to be charging however. :)

I'm not sure why the pyra was trying to draw 2.7A - does that mean my pyra could already now be fried?

I need to read the specs on the charging IC, I don't have time now, but it's not uncommon for these kind of circuits to have a 3A current limits on the input side, it may be ignoring typical USB 3.0 OTG spec standards .

Tried one more thing just in case btw: I did an apt update/upgrade as I also found that the pyra was reporting the wrong length of time to charge (the pyra at 80% was saying a little over 5 hours to charge the battery). After an apt update/upgrade this is a more reasonable 45 mins although I am seeing a kernel crash as the device boots up as well although maybe that is just a bug somewhere?

If it helps anyone here's the kernel crash messages from dmesg. I don't know what this relates to though!

Perhaps it's trying to work out how much current the supply can really deliver, by ramping it up until the voltage drops off? I know at least some smartphones do that.
