would it be possible for someone to make a application that runs in the background and enable usb gamepad support to those apps that dont support them currently?

possible, but very difficult and not really practical. It would most likely be very unreliable as well.

Unless: The application is dynamically linked to SDL, and uses SDL for all it's input; which is about as rare as finding a flying tortoise.

maybe someone could write a gp2x emulator that runs on the gp2x, so the program in question never gets to read the state of the hardware :D

extra points if you can keep launching it from inside itself.

pokeparadox: won't you run into a problem where you're fighting the other running programs for data about the key presses? like, if a game is linked with sdl, couldn't it just read the buttons' states before you get a chance to alter them? i think this is why squidge says it's unreliable. maybe he can confirm that i'm not talking gibberish
