Commodore are releasing a Android smartphone called the Commodore PET.

Are you keeping up with the Commodore?

I was almost interested, except that the phone is 5.5" (way too big for me) and the white colour (it needs to be 80's beige/bakelite); and being another Android device, this is just a "label"...

so i clicked that link and somehow i ended up reading about pornhubs newest sex toy...

it was, by far, a better read than the linked article...

When you say Commodore are releasing a smartphone, I think it would be prudent to mention that this isn't the same Commodore from back in the day, but rather a couple of guys who bought the rights to the name.

I say it should be trapezoid in shape to match the original PET monitor.

Will we still be able to have our dinner and a whole pack of biccies while waiting for the friggin thing to loads up.

C64: Entire dinner. Amiga 500: Quick packet of crisps. Snes: quick gulp of air. Playstation 1: quick packet of crisps. Ps2: four course meal?

This is more likely to get my attention than slapping a logo and a name on it.  I doub't I would buy it solely because of such a gimmick, but it might be interesting to hold and look at.  Better than the slight variations on a theme that is the everything else, including the actual Commodore PET named device they will supposedly be selling.

Is the PS2 the one where every time you switch it on it updates a bunch of stuff for an hour ??
Not that I have ever expeienced, and I have had one since they were the current gen.  I currently have 2.

When they originally came out I would put a game in, wait for it to load, maybe watch an animation or title screen, try to start the game, wait for it to load, go to a new area, wait for it to load.  I think the original PS was the same way.  Some of my N64 games also have a delay during loading (so much for carts not having load times).

The updates you mention remind me of when I use a Windows box (or, hell, even Linux sometimes).  Is it possible you are thinking of a Microsoft product?

No, that's the PS3.  The PS2's generally not too bad in terms of load times in my experience, except for the GTA games, which take an age to load.
I forgot about them.  They were pretty bad.  Any delays due to loading disrupt gameplay for me.  I haven't played any games on current gen stuff other than the Wii U, is it still a widespread problem?

phone looks decent... I can definitely get cheaper for a mediatek based phone, but for the rest it is more or less what I need... the dual sim is a boon and If I can get that without the overseas taxes and potential problem at the announced price I might buy that... through I wouldn't be surprised if the announced 300$ becomes 500$+ once it reach Switzerland...

edit: nice update... (or not? :D )

I was a bit surprised Commodore are selling Mp3 Players now..

So i think the Phone want have anything in common whit our good old Commodore

I also haven't seen a new Xbox or a PS4 in action either, so I couldn't say, but I understand from reports that the PS4's download speed is not quite as borked, and it can do more stuff in the background.
