COVID-19 / Coronavirus Pandemic

People have had trouble distinguishing between flu and covid-19 since long before the vaccines were available. In fact, many unvaccinated people have trouble distinguishing between being healthy and covid-19. I have often been told that I need the vaccinations because I might be spreading covid-19 without knowing it due to the possibility of me having asymptomatic covid-19. Yet I am also told that I need the vaccines in order to make covid-19 asymptomatic. So preventing asymptomatic covid-19 is the reason that I need the vaccine but making covid-19 asymptomatic is also the reason that I need the vaccine.

Besides, the flu can kill. I would much rather get long covid than being killed by the flu. The flu can also last multiple weeks and can be horrendous non-stop torture. The flu can be pretty terrible. But you do not focus on that because your world-view is based on the news.

I sometimes mention ISIS as an example of this phenomenon (though in the future when the MSM stops mentioning covid-19 I might switch to using covid-19 as an example). When propaganda about ISIS was repeated on the news every day, people cared about ISIS and were often talking about ISIS. But when the news stopped mentioning ISIS, ISIS suddenly became nothing to those people and they stopped thinking about ISIS. But nothing changed except that the news stopped talking about ISIS. Nothing in real life changed for those people. So all along their worldview was shaped by the news they watched and not by real life.

This is how it works with every issue. How much people care about covid-19, ISIS, anthropogenic global warming, future oil supplies, Muslims abusing women, etc is directly proportional to how often the news covers it. The people who make the news have the power to control what it is that society thinks about and how they think about it.

Watching the news is a waste of time. Did the MSM ever advice people to buy Bitcoin back when it could make them rich? Did it warn for the upcoming Orwellian regime? Did it tell people to prep for the upcoming scarcity of supplies? No, no, and no. People who's worldview is shaped by the MSM are always a few steps behind. People could have been rich, unaffected by the high prices, and prepared for the lock-downs if only they had spent less time watching propaganda and more time watching the world.

Remember news is business whose objective is to retain viewers, make cash. It needs to seem like news but is really just entertainment.

How many things can you get upset about simultaneously? The news is catering to your most prevalent emotion. It's that simple.

I agree the response to covid is driven mainly by fear - fear of poor publicity.

Also regimes angling for largess. Each vaccine administered equates to higher taxes ultimately. Government agencies have budgets and employees scrambling for promotions. As such they have profits and losses and are businesses. Funded by captive tax payers. Nice position to be in.

Yes, yes and yes. But not in the news but in the talk-shows where they give opinions.
In my case Bitcoin was https://www.bnr.nl/ (Business News Radio).

And warned about the unnecessary jab:

New Orwellian regime? A new European (security) order:
article is from a member of the Dutch Socialist Party.

Scarcity? Well, only that many things will be more expensive:

The problem is reading the signals behind the news. For that, you do need some alternative media, because those DONT tell you that a celebrity had a breast implant augmentation or that $famous_actor can, surprisingly, dance very well.

that's so insightfully worded. Yes, exactly!

I agree the response to covid is driven mainly by fear

You think during the Nazi regime people got Nazi propaganda because that was what they wanted, not because Hitler wanted it? You think that the fear mongering around ISIS has nothing to do with the USA needing excuses to invade countries? You think that people want covid-19 propaganda and that the governments are just powerlessly playing along with however the free media decides to steer the people? Or do you think that the government could make people lock-down if the people almost never heard of covid-19?

Here is a better business model: work for the people who have infinite money. The government needs influence over the people, which the MSM has plenty of. And the MSM needs money, which the government (or in some cases technically the bank that owns them) can produce at will. It is a match made in Hell.

the fear mongering around ISIS

That ISIS?

That ISIS?
Are there other ISISes?

The MSM does not have the money, they get sponsored by corporations. It's corporations that rule (Vanguard, Blackrock, etc)
Indeed. It seems to be a few families that rule through corporations (including banks) which rule through schooling, MSM, government, etc. Religion used to be pretty important also.

You are cherry-picking. De Telegraaf is much more mainstream than BMR.

Similarly for the other points. More precisely, the answers are "barely" ×3. And thus my point remains: people who just follow the MSM are always a step behind.

What signals? I am not sure what you mean by that.

They all wanted scapegoats to rile against. They wanted to cheer for the good guy (Hitler).
You think that the fear mongering around ISIS has nothing to do with the USA needing excuses to invade countries?
It's a bit of an absurd question but I believe the US is more opportunistic. They invade when it's politically viable. Maybe they sow seeds of chaos then wait to swoop in. Whatever. I think they should never have shared any technology with China nor Russia.
You think that people want covid-19 propaganda and that the governments are just powerlessly playing along with however the free media decides to steer the people?
I never suggested that. It's not about media control, much more subtle, group-think type coercion mixed with fear of social exile and extortion.
Or do you think that the government could make people lock-down if the people almost never heard of covid-19?
Lock-down is an implementation detail.
the government (or in some cases technically the bank that owns them)
Big pharma owns governments.

USA helped build high-containment labs (BSL-3 and 4) in Ukraine; helped by Senator Obama.
labs can be used both for good and for evil. But...
That presumably is part of the russian tactic of claiming that Ukraine used that lab to create nerve agents as they use nerve agents in ukraine, in contradiction to international laws.

Main Stream Media.
Ok but in the west I don't believe it's controlled by a scheming elite, eg free masons. It's more group think driven and reporters reporting what will help their careers. If the BBC went against vaccines when vaccines are the government's strategy their funding would be pulled. If someone is all doom and gloom against the grain they get sacked. You could call it a popularity contest. Then there's Blinken announcing that Russia has 'failed'. This simply doesn't compute but it's what people want to hear, let's cheer for the good guys, which conveniently means supporting the White House. There are real negative side effects to this jingoism, young civilians taking up arms then being slaughtered because they think the west is just so awesome. Russia may be suffering but Putin is on the verge of achieving his objective of taking Kyiv. Corpses of young men aren't all over our news because we don't want to see it.

Oh this is the covid thread. Vaccine producers supply research results that support their objective of selling more vaccines. Scientists routinely dismiss trials that don't support the desired outcome. This could be considered collusion but it's a standard practice. Then governments - desperate for popluar support - lap it up and fake science makes the news. Vaccines will save the world. Yay! Go Biden!

Netherlands renames, after 2 years, Covid19, back to Flu:

Italians and the art on how to make you feel unwelcome:

COVID-19 is almost done here, yet my fear is still here. Getting COVID-19 now would be like All Quiet on the Western Front.

The govermnent doesn't fund the BBC, and since 2014 even the goverment funding of the world service has dropped, so it's all funded by commercial interests these days. All they do these days is it's down to parliament to set the level of the license fee, which all UKers have to pay, but I'd have thought that these days the things they can sell to America starting with the Office, and more recently Doctor Who and Top Gear would pay for all of BBC 4 and still have change left over.

That article tells us to sneese in our elbow to avoid infecting others. But in the Netherlands (at least where I live), many people have replaced handshaking by touching each other's elbows…

That article tells us to sneeze in our INNER elbow to avoid infecting others. But in the Netherlands (at least where I live), many people have replaced handshaking by touching each other's OUTER elbows…
It's not the same side. At least, I can not lick my outer elbow, nor sneeze on it, and greeting with your inner elbow looks weird.
That presumably is part of the Russian tactic of claiming that Ukraine used that lab to create nerve agents as they use nerve agents in Ukraine, in contradiction to international laws.
Hmm... might be so. But the facts is that the labs are there and they were handling dangerous substances. As said by Victoria Nuland. I mean, even the WHO already has commented to destroy the samples (also without disclosing what it actually was)
Also this:
And there was an interview with Tulsi Gabbard as well somewhere on the web corroborating it was nasty stuff.

But if Russia has biolabs in Mexico or Cuba.... oh! the screaming would start. So inconsistent.

tinfoilhat time: This will outbreak and in 6 months another deadly disease will spread. Let's pray i'm wrong on this. - Nipah
