Why not trying some Linux themes ?pkostrze said:I'm running out of OSs that haven't been done as a skin before but I'm not bored yet so any suggestions? As long as there are screenshots on the web, I can do a halfway decent skin.
The skins in question are for gmenu2X. That way, the original skin on the nand is NOT altered. It works really well even on my F-200. I prefer Liquido by pedator, though.iprice said:Being a total noob, how do you put a new skin onto the GP2X?
Are there any ready made skins available for download?
GEM for the minimalists ;-)pkostrze said:Okay, so far I've done Gmenu2x skins for Mac OS 9, BeOS, Amiga OS, AROS, and QNX RTOS. I'm running out of OSs that haven't been done as a skin before but I'm not bored yet so any suggestions? As long as there are screenshots on the web, I can do a halfway decent skin.

The KDE theme is the default KDE iconset, crystal, the Gnome theme looks like Rodent, but there are many more.
Linux desktops can look totally different, here some KDE screenshots (those that look like cubes are in 3D, each side of the cube is a virtual desktop) :
Lynucs.org KDE screenshots
For my own gmenu2x theme I used icons from the Nuovo, Etiquette and Rodent themes and created simple wallpapers with Gimp using the logo plugin.
Ask and ye shall receive... I give you the OS/2 Warp 4 skin http://archive.gp2x.de/cgi-bin/cfiles.cgi?0,0,0,0,61,2483 Thanks for the suggestion!Lineus said:You could do an OS/2 Warp skin, if you feel up to it...
And if you feel REALLY creative, you could do a MS-DOS skin.
Sort of a "bonus" thenemphy said:You could bundle all your skins in a single download (OS skin pack); then everyone will get the dos-skin.
I suppose so but the program itself has "skins" so I'm, in effect, skinning a shell.bustaballs said:Wouldn't Gmenu2x more likely be considered a shell than a skin?
Well, okay, you asked for it... I'll see if I can bang one out tomorrow. If anyone asks though, it was your ideaYrx said:I was serious about Windows 3.1, by the way. I just think it would be hilarious to see the look on people's faces when you boot it up.

DOS... well, I MAY but I doubt anyone will download it
Woot! Thanks! I was just giving a suggestion, didn't think you'd actually do it! It's awesome!
Woot again!
I grab screenshots from the internet or through an emulator and then fire up good old MS Paint... I have to edit the PNGs in IrFanview to set the transparency after I'm all done. It take a long time doing the pics pixel by pixel in Paint but it's not too bad and luckily the old OS's are pretty pixellicious so it's easier to edit them this way.Yrx said:Good lorb, that's hysterical!
By the way, how exactly do you go about making skins?
