You could also report output of "route", I think it should list your router as the default gateway for things to work. If route seems to hang, say route -n (wont try to resolve IPs).

Yes, please paste the output of route and also the contents of the file /etc/resolv.conf (again, as root)

route -n

Code:
screeny-openpandora:/home/screeny# route -n

I also had some wifi connection issues. My other router worked just fine, but the NETGEAR wasn't as happy at all. Then I had to change a lot of settings to get it working.

Hm, looks like your Pandora doesn't set the default route...

Screeny, try:

Code:
sudo route add default gw 192.168.178.1

If that works for you, we know WHY you can't connect to the net.

Question then is: Why doesn't it set the route? :)

Works now :)

Correction:

Works only for 2-3 seconds :(

Disclaimer: all this is based on my netbook, running Xubuntu (same desktop as pandora)

Deleting the profile might help

right click on the networkmanager icon in XFCE

Edit connections

Select the profile named after your router, delete it

If this does not work, you can edit the settings of the profile

click edit just above the profile delete button

goto IPv4 settings

Change DHCP to "manual"

"Add" an adress

insert your current IP, 255.255.255.0 as netmask and your router ip as gateway

add your router ip in the DNS servers field

this should always work, unless the problem is with your router

this is a workaround offcourse, the real question is, why doesn't DHCP do it's job

I assume ED's hack only worked for 4 seconds because DHCP changed it back to faulty settings

Screeny said he reflashed already, so i'm starting to think it's router's config issues

I don't think so, 'cause it worked perfectly under Hotfix 3!

btw: the workaround does not help :( but the router seems to be OK

Pandora - The first handheld with self-healing

;)

Okay... so... shades WiFi works now, yours doesn't right?

Hmm... dhclient doesn't seem to get a proper route, that's why it only works for a few seconds when you manually set it.

Weird thing is: Usually, the device connects to the router, asks for IP and DNS and then sets up everything.

Your Pandora sets everything except the route.... weird. Why only with your unit?
