I'm still waiting for my unit and while the projects I know about are really cool (MD emu, PSX Emulator, etc etc.) there are a couple of apps I'd realy like to see for the GP2X. Some might be in the pipeline already, but I thought I'd ask about.

I'm really not a programmer, but everything I'm gonna list is open source.

FreeCiv. Does anyone know if a version could be made for the GP2X?

Exult. The Ultima 7 emulator/interpreter. Again, would this be possible?

Battle for Wesnoth. I love this game, it would be fansastic to see a version on the GP2X.

Anyone know if any of these are being looked at?

And what's the current state of the art as far as SNES emulation goes?

I would like to see dreamcast emulation over any other type.

the DC had a lot of 2d fighting games :)

DC, are you serious? Why don't we try getting N64 first...

Check the wiki. It's being worked on (and will be a killer app).

For so early in the GP2X's life, from all reports it is already way ahead of expectations. Still a lot of work to be done though.

Disregarding the obvious problem with that, 2D fighting games are currently emulated much better in their original arcade incarnations through MAME, Kawaks, Final Burn and the like. The only notable exceptions are the Street Fighter III games, and Jo Jo's Bizzare Adventure.

The arcade originals are much better regardless, without exception! :p

Following on from that, what I'd most like to see on the system would be CPS2 emulation for Street Fighter Zero 3 and the Vampire Hunter. Annoying that the only other portable system with the horsepower to do these games has an even worse d-pad than the GP2X!

I would like to see DC emulation, too. You got a problem with DC?

It will never happen, but I'd still like to see it. :)
