hi all,

i want to know if pandora will be able to play real media movies and ogv movies. these are a big requirement for me.

Try search. There is a number of threads talking about mediaplayers that run currently, and others that might be, or are being ported.
B!

if you know why not just tell me? ogv doesn't get a mention here. and realmedia seems to be slated but i would like to use it. is there a resounding no here or not? i can't tell.

The Pandora can play *Everything*. You can install VLC or mplayer or some Xine-player, so you basically have access to every codec in existence.
RealMedia might have small issues however (don't know how good the non-x86 version is), but seriously, who would even consider watching anything in that format?

Wont play Real Media files, as the source for the codec uses x86 instructions for part of it IIRC
It should play OGV as that is open
I want MKV and AVI mainly..

i have a movie subscription service that lets me keep all their films in rm format. i have a gp2x, psp and a jxd 301. the 1st 2 ended up being no good for these. i bought the 301 for rm format but it has crap battery life. i'm getting sick of not being able to play rm format films. maybe i'll buy a cheap mp4/ rm capable player...

If by ogv your mean the theora codec in an ogg container then I am sure it will be supported.

Mplayer is already ported to the pandora / beagleboard. I am not a ARM or Mplayer expert but I believe it should be able to play all (most?) of what libavcodec supports.

Then some decoder will/might be more optimized that other. Obviously it's better if the dsp can handle the decoding.

"ogv" (or ogm) i see ogv as my favourite choice for download from achive.org. there are lots of good pd movies there and my "rm" files are from movieflix.com i can download and keep all the movies from there as part of my subscription. some are free even if you don't pay but the jxd needs a better battery when playing these. (i only seem to get an hour.) i just want an all in one player, argg! i'm still looking after all this time. well perhaps carrying another little mp4 will do the job. (it'll have to have a better life to it.) 2 pocket size devices will be ok in my backpack. just getting prepaired. i maybe getting the pandora soon...

no way! i'd rather just drag and drop them. i have seen many cheap chinese players do realmedia so i was hoping but i'll perhaps get one also.

an iTouch rip-off, how original. However, I see a flaw:

"Support any RM & RMVB format with a resolution of 320x240 or lower"

Do all your movies match that requirement? If they do, you'll probably that an emulator could run a RM player to do that ;)

Most of those cheap chinese players are using the exact same software (ffmpeg). Seems like a waste of money to buy one if you're getting a pandora.

I want one of those.
It looks like it will sell for less then 20 dollars + free shipping.

If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

...unless it's the Pandora ofc! :p

BEWARE!! The seller of that item, "showwhat", is on SOSFakeFlash's list, as a known seller of false-capacity flash media and music players.

Please read this: http://sosfakeflash.wordpress.com/2009/07/13/showwhat-ebay-fake-flash-seller-high-alert-devious-china/

The item is FAR too cheap to be of genuine capacity, and the fact that it is a private listing is a huge red flag. Please do not buy this - you will not get what you're paying for.

EDIT: Please read this link as well - http://sosfakeflash.wordpress.com/2009/10/03/yogis-fake-32gb-mp-player-from-kinhome88-ebay-fake-flash-memory-seller-charger-blows-up/ . It seems that these things also have the potential to be dangerous, as well.

yeah i know he has a bad rep too! it was just the 1st one i came to. you know i just read this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GP2X) "FFPlay that allows you to play several RealMedia and Windows Media formats."

i must have tried it before but i will have to try it again. has anyone actually got rm working on a gp2x?
