Hello Everyone,

Just trying to get some NeoGeo action going on, but both of these emulators I am usign have some kind of down side.

FBA with Capex works like a charm for my CPS games, but every time I try to to load a NeoGeo game, every rom gives me:

"Couldn't Load sfix.sfix"

This looks like a Bios file. I have two diffrent bios files, but I don't know where to put them, or maybe they are not the correct verison. I have tried stuffing the sfix.sfix into some fo the ROM zips, but that too doesn't work, just don't know how to get it working.

As for GnGeo, It seems to work pretty well for most games, no sfix woes, but I can't seem to find a way to remap the buttons, the default ones are no good for fighting games.

If anyone can give me any tips I would much appreciate it,

Thanks all,

Welcome. :)

NeoGeo is one of those things I've never taken the time to get going on my Pandora. My roms from the GP2X days didn't work when I tried them, then I got distracted by a squirrel or something and never got back to it.

There are a few posts mentioning 'sfix':

The vibe I'm getting is that 'sfix' is not a machine bios, but a component that needs to be present in each zip file. Maybe your roms need to be processed through romcenter?

My advice is equally vague regarding mapping. If there are no options in the menu, have you looked in your appdata folder (/sdcard/pandora/appdata/gngeo)? Many releases keep a config.txt or similar in there, which you can manually edit to change things like mapping. Sometimes they're hidden, so hit ctrl-h when you're browsing there.

Ahh, there's an easy fix for that one - just go through your ROM directory and remove any ROM images that pertain to fighting games. Hey presto, all your problems are over and you can rejoin the rest of us as a useful and (above all) intelligent member of society!

D.

My old roms from gp2x gngeo also don't work on the Pandora, actualy no ROM works and I reallyhave tried different roms from different mame versions. Even new ones, even rebuild ones with the correct dat file, straight from the emulator don't work. it always says something from missing stuff or rom may be to old. Yes, I guess it also shows this missing "sfix.sfix" message even if they are in the rom file included, weird.

The GnGeo Neo Geo BIOS "neogeo.zip" must be placed in the ROM directory "/pandora/appdata/gngeo_pepone/roms" and should have this content:

Note: None of these BIOS files must be present in any of the game ROMs.

The current GnGeo version supports at least 160 ROMs. It's just a question of having the correct ROM version, as with any other arcade emulator.

Here are my test results, including information about the tested ROM version...

AFAIK, there is no possibilty to remap buttons. Any input on this is welcome.

EDIT:

FBA needs a version 0.2.97.24 compatible ROM set. This is how the FBA Neo Geo BIOS "/pandora/appdata/fba-dave18/roms/neogeo.zip" should look like:
