What I want to do it access files on my computer by networking it via USB. At the moment I don't have a SD card and want to try some things out that require more space then the nand can provide.

I followed this guide and all works fine.

The problem is after that I'm not sure what to do...

I tried the guide but cant get past the last step...

Code:
Linux 2.4.25 (gp2x) (ttyp0)

Thats the log of my attempts to work it out..

What IP address did you give your GP2X?
What IP address did you give your PC?
What folder do you have shared do you have on your PC?
What did you call the share on your PC?

What IP address did you give your GP2X?
10.1.0.2
What IP address did you give your PC?
24.74.61.96
What folder do you have shared do you have on your PC?
c:/share and I tried the windows shared folder...
What did you call the share on your PC?
I called it share?

:(

I tried again using all different combo with my PC's ip as 10.1.0.1 and honestly its no use.

I have no idea what I'm doing...

I don't know what shared folder I should use or even how to wright it telnet properly...
I'm not even sure if 10.1.0.1 is right as my pc ip or not, no idea whats seeing who or what as what...

I suck horribly at command line and networking...

Please help me...

Remember that everytime you turn on the GP2X, you have to start the Samba client again using "/sbin/insmod smbfs".

This format of the smbmount command should work, assuming that you have the shared folder setup correctly on your PC. Are you using telnet or serial or get command-line access to the GP2X?

smbmount //10.1.0.1/share /mnt/ext

I have been using telnet so the problem must be that I don't have the shared folder setup correctly.

Where exactly is 10.1.0.1?

Can you FTP into it? You might want to try that first if the only thing you need to do is transfer files.

You misunderstand me, I want use my gp2x to access files on my PC.

When you setup the networking on the PC side, what address did you enter in the network properties? If you entered 10.1.0.1, then that is your PC's IP address that the GP2X can see.

Double-click on My Computer, double-click on C:\. Do you see a folder called 'share' in there? Does it have the little hand icon overlay on it? Right-click on 'share' and select 'Sharing and Security'. Make sure 'Share this folder' is selected and that the share name is 'share'.

Ok...

Then apparently the problem is somewhere else, I have already tried that combination...

I got it working now!!!

Just randomly started working the last attempt...

Thank you for your help everyone, without it I would still be at square 1.
