I dont think this has been asked before; does the Pandora support external HDD`s?

Pandora is running Linux, and USB hard drives are supported under it, as are all other common USB devices.

To list a few:
-Mice
-Keyboards
-Flash Drives / Hard drives
-Game controllers

It does depend on what the developers put into the firmware, however. USB hard drives will kinda just work, but for instance, mouse input may not be programmed into the UI. So while the mouse "works" it does nothing without the software to drive it.

If the ampage and voltage requirements of the HDD are low enough, Then yes, you can use a HDD.

(If It plugs into a wallscocket ignore the requirements, the answer is still yes in this case)

You haven't been here long have you?
yes it does, but you'd probably be better off using two 16 gig SD cards.

I registered today, but I`ve been lurking around for quite some time :p
The thing is, I have a USB HDD chuck full of ONLY emulators and rom/iso files,
so it would be awesome if I could just plug it in and be good to go!

So if anyone could be so kind and chech this link out and tell me if it would work
with the Pandora or not?

I have one of those and it works flawlessly on my linux computers (even a PII). Since the pandora's usb is a powered one, I should work fine, but drain power.

I love My Passport. WD is a pretty good company on their externals- don't under penalty of death, buy one of their internals.

I just bought one.

What makes their externals better? Why wouldn't they be using the same drives for both?

I beg to differ. Their externals are absolute garbage. Maybe the Passports are better made, but the MyBooks are utter trash. See here for examples:

P.S. I'm one of the victims there.

They are better than many externals. Some people always have bad experiences, it's just how technology works. On newegg, you will see a device with 300 5s, and 100 4's, and 15 ones. It happens.
Of course, the best thing to do is usually to just buy an external case...

USB 2.0 IS normal. What decade are you from?

The pandora uses USB-on-the-go, I believe.

It has 2 USB ports - one USB-on-the-go, and a regular USB 2.0 HOST port.

dont they hav like seperate ones...
coz my laptop...
wen ever u plug in something...
it says that it would run faster on a 2.0 high speed hub...
or something like that..
USB 2.0 High Speed (480MB/sec)
USB 2.0 Full Speed (12MB/sec) (Yup, strange naming)

You then also have USB 1.0 and 1.1, which can be 12MB/sec or lower.

Pandora is USB 2.0 High Speed.
