Worms Armageddon.

im in a worms clan on the PC version of armageddon. favorite game ever. to bad theres next to no chance for a port.

Try:
http://www.hedgewars.org/
Its a nice opensource alternative to worms armageddon; A great game with netplay, that I've come to prefer over the original.
Wormux also might be interesting for you: http://www.wormux.org/phpboost/news/news.php

Threads of Fate - RPG
Someone actually knows what that is, cool!
And I'd like to second Tomba!, Klonoa, Medieval, and FFVII/III/IX.

Also I'd like to add:
Megaman X5
Blasto
Tony Hawk 1/2 (3/4 were apparently released on the PS1, but I dunno if they're any good)
Air/Ace Combat
Tales of Destiny
Any Gex/Spyro/Crash Bandicoot game
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
Darkstone
Digimon World/2/3 (prefer 3 myself)
Monster Rancher 2 (don't think the CD switch thing will work too well though)
Final Fantasy Tactics
Jersey Devil
JET MOTO
Rayman
And just for the heck of it, Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX.

Here's some of my favourite games on the PS1:

Spyro the Dragon 1, 2 and 3: 3D platform/adventure.
40 Winks: 3D platform.
Heart of Darkness: 2D platform with seamless 3D cut scenes.
Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Strikes Back: 3D platform.
Tomb Raider: 3D platform.
Wipeout: 3D futuristic racer.
Rollcage Stage II: 3D futuristic racer.
The Oddworld games: 2D adventure with seamless 3D cut scenes.
Bust a Move: Arcade.
Medievil: 3D adventure.
Rayman: 2D platform.
Sheep: Puzzle.

I got to say that the original Spyro games are totally top of the list.

Herc's Adventures: sprite based 3rd person action-adventure (can be played simultaneously by 2 players cooperatively; imagine Zombies Ate My Neighbors minus zombies & saving people, it takes place in a Greek mythology-based setting)

One Piece Mansion: puzzle-strategy game (you're a landlord who must place tenants in an apartment building properly to manage their stress levels, otherwise they will leave...seriously, it's actually a pretty fun game)

Fear Effect/Fear Effect 2 - Retro Helix: 3rd person adventure

King's Field/King's Field 2: 1st person rpg

G-Darius: horizontally-scrolling shump (like Gradius & R-type, but better :D )

Star Ocean - The Second Story: rpg

Robo Pit/Robo Pit 2: 1st or 3rd person viewpoint switchable 1on1 arena battle game (well..Robo Pit 1 is..I think Robo Pit 2 is a 3rd person build-a-robot action-adventure); build a robot to fight against an opponent robot, the winner gets to take a weapon from the loser to add to their collection and also moves up a rank(not as cool as Armored Core, but neat in its own way)

OverBlood: 3rd person survival horror-mystery (I'd say OverBlood 2(no connection to OverBlod 1, but same style of game play) as well but apparently it has a game-crippling glitch that freezes the gameplay, preventing the player from completing the game.)

Nightmare Creatures (has a neat debug mode) /Nightmare Creatures 2: 3rd person action-adventure horror

Spider - The Video Game: Spider-based side-scrolling platformer

The Granstream Saga: 3rd person action-rpg

Fox Hunt: full motion video based game

Thousand Arms: rpg with mild dating-sim elements

Street Fighter Alpha 3: 1on1 fighter (I don't know if it's also a Pandora-compatible MAME game so I put it here)

Revelations - Persona/Persona 2 - Innocent Sin/Persona 2 - Eternal Punishment(with english translation patch): rpg

Tenchu/Tenchu 2: 3rd person stealth (the first Tenchu is way better(especially with the awesome debug mode), but in Tenchu 2 you can make your own levels; us future-Pandora users could trade our levels among the community, essentially giving us an endless supply of new Ninja missions.)

On a side note, because of a lack of things like L2, L3, R2, & R3 plenty of games that we are mentioning might, quite likely, require a Dual Shock 3 or 2. If there ever is a Pandora 2(seriously, I'm in no hurry, I'm just musing) I hope they include that second set of shoulder buttons and if possible click-able analog nubs.

How come no one have mentioned Tekken 3? The best fighting game on PSX! Only having 2 shoulder buttons will be annoying but should still be playable. Of course more enjoyable on 2 or more players.

Crash Bandicoot (1): 3d platformer
Theme Park World
Hogs of War: Turn Based Strategy
Tombi 2: Fine 3d platformer
Croc: The Legend of Gobbos
Croc 2

People are listing lots of things redundantly, not sure if the goal was to avoid that or not..

I'm only aware of there being exactly one game that requires dualshock, Ape Escape. All other games were made to be compatible with the original PS1 controller that had neither analog controls nor force feedback.

L2/R2 can be mapped to one of the dozens of other buttons available. Most games don't require active and routine use of more than two shoulder buttons simultaneously. With per-game configurations most games won't have control problems. It'll be much better than it is on PSP, where L2/R2 are mapped to moving the analog nub.

Pardon the lack of game suggestions in this post, but I feel this is worth pointing out... :p

All of you chaps mentioning MegaMan Legends 2 and The Misadventures of Tron Bonne, out there - have you tested them under emulation? I have yet to find an emulator that doesn't choke on them. Unless I've missed something very vital, it may not be a very good idea to recommend them as games that you can play on the Pandora. :p

Need For Speed (The original, since it's almost identical to the 3DO one, and a bit of a landmark)
(The 3rd and Fourth ones were fun enough too, the second was a bit ropey)

RPG:

Legend of Legaia
Brave Fencer Musashi

Turn Based Stategy:

Civilization 2
Front Mission 2

Racing:

Twisted Metal 2
Driver
